Reduced engine power

Today as I was sitting at a red light and the light turned green I took off and all of my dash lights came on(reduced engine power, stabilitrac and all other lights). My oil pressure gauge did not have a reading. I pull over and turn my car off. Let us sit for a few minutes and crank it back up. All lights gone except check engine light. Oil pressure was reading correctly again. Took off and within 1 minute it said reduced engine power again but the oil pressure read correct. I have a 2010 SS with the LS3. It has the list of mods in my signature. Haven’t taken it to get the codes read yet as I am waiting on the performance shop to call me back that built it less than two months ago. Any ideas on what could cause it.

It could be a few different things. Loss of displayed oil pressure should trigger a Reduced Power mode, but you are getting it now without loss of pressure...

Oil pressure sensor failure (happened to me), oil pump pressure relief valve and/or spring issue, wiring issue (chaffed wire or ground issue), or possibly other electrical issues.

There are other mechanical issues that can cause it as well and I am sure others will chime in with info. You should get hold of a scanner and check your codes to see if you generated anything. When my sending unit failed I was getting a P0523 - 'Engine oil pressure sensor/switch - high voltage', which normally points to the sensor or wiring, not the pump. This way you know what direction to go in.

How old is your battery?
All sorts of weird things pop up when the battery starts to go.
Not like the old days when the signs of a weak battery would begin with the engine cranking over slow.

Yep, these cars act possessed when the battery gets weak. But usually it will cause a Stabilitrak error. I haven't heard of it causing a Reduced Power Mode or oil pressure gauge reading zero. But, always a possibility with these crazy electronics.

You should be able to pull a code from history. Throttle body is a common issue.

I had reduced engine power a few weeks ago and the engine gave codes P2135 and P0300, it turned out to be the electronic sensor for the throttle pedal. When troubleshooting, it was likely either the pedal or the throttle body as Greenhornet mentioned. I replaced the pedal first because it was cheaper and that solved it.

Called the performance shop to see if there was any headway on fixing the issue. The issue is 5 volt sensor reference “P0641”. They are trying to pinpoint what is going on. Any ideas on this?

Unfortunately P0641 is kind of a generic 'placeholder' sensor communication error. If you do a Google search on the error and then change to 'Images', you get a sea of chewed up, melted, and corroded harnesses and connectors. It is the 'Short To Voltage' error for quite literally every single sensor on the car.

Hopefully it triggered an associated error as well so at least there was some sort of bread crumbs left for them to follow. I'm sure they will find it if the shop has a good tech with experience on troubleshooting electronics. Unfortunately these issues can take a lot of time to narrow down.

They have checked all wires and connectors with no luck yet. They are still working on it. There were no other codes thrown. Maybe he will get it figured out soon.

This condition may be caused by intermittent conditions and poor connections or damaged terminals at the fuel pump control module wiring harness connector. Have them check this thoroughly

I would check to see if the battery terminals were properly installed when you replaced the battery two weeks ago.

2 more days and it will be 2 weeks. They have looked everywhere for it. Still no luck
