Aftermarket cam

I'm looking into getting an aftermarket camshaft installed on my L99 2011 Camaro SS and was wondering what my options are. I'm not an expert on this stuff and would appreciate any help, Thanks in advance.

Call Pete at JPSSonline.

There are a few other reputable vendors around you, just can't think of their names off the top of my head.

I'm sure others will help here shortly.

For an l99 a vvt cam would be more beneficial over a full ls3 conversion. Those vvt cams make really good power. You can talk to ryan at gpi or to tsp, they both know this vvt cams really good and can help you out on what's right for you. They're both on this forum so you can pm them through here

Gwatney has the L99 very well dialed in. If I had an L99, I'd have one of their cams in it. gwatneyperformance.com

Options?

Buy one of the many available on the market.
Install it yourself
Have a friend install it
Have it professionally installed

Those are your options.

There are way too many options and opinions. Way too many other things that have to be considered.
I would do a lot of reading and educate yourself. At least get some basic knowledge so YOU can make an educated decision. Do not just get something because someone else says so.

Do yourself a favor and let a reputable shop that knows what they are doing supply the parts, install it and tune it . That way you can be sure all will go well and they will stand behind it should there be a problem.

Between AFM/DOD delete and other things many run scared with future spring changes and just blow it as the cost is about a grand usually more for shops as the heads have to be pulled the TTY bolts, and head gasket changed the lifter baskets then changed, and the valley cover changed to ls3 to ditch the actuators for the AFM, new phaser and if you want to keep the VVT feature which is real nice then you can think converter to match...even more money.... SO lots to think of, I believe back when I had my 11 l99 vert it MAST was the first with the VVT cams and phasers and such..and now many places have them, a good 8620 core helps now they make them and some br30 break in oil.... Cammotion a guy named KIP used to be on here helping people, other places that make them are all over now, TSP, COMP of course and places like Tick/JDP/Jannetty etc installing them that may have more of the answers you need to know between reading up and figuring your budget your with parts most likely at 4 + grand if you don't find a production shop like some....like in Tampa tuning or Livernois that crank them out and run specials....

This is whats been proven time and time again.....

GPI Cams you will get all you need for the install in their cam kits but you pick the stage. From being in the game since 1998 I would just go to the highest one cause if you like to be conservative I guarantee you that next year you'll want to go bigger.

Circle D converters (the converter stall speed will depend on the cam you choose)

You'll need a bigger trans cooler as well.

You'll also need a quality tune and SOMEONE that KNOWS HOW TO PROPERLY TUNE A 6L80.
