Did you read my post? I clearly stated I was talking about the V8.

- 1st AMSOIL XL 5W30 is NOT reccomended for the Camaro ( you keep saying over and over that is its and stop it you are not internal to AMSOIL therefore you have no insight information) XL 5W30 formulation is only for GM spec [B]GM 6094M and not for GM4718M
I never said that the XL line was recommended for the V8. I said it meets warranty requirements for vehicles in general. The V6 cameo is one of them. No Amsoil oil will work for the warranty of the V8 per what I posted. Are you dense?

Quote:
2nd, Only fluids reccomended are SSO 0W30 and ASL 5W30 these are the high performer oil's we cary for this car
If you read what I posted from the Camaro owners manual, you will see that while Amsoil ASL and SSO meet the GM 4718, it does NOT meet the API starburst requirement. Again, are you dense?

Like i said no where in our data sheets it states XL's 5W30 is the oil that meets GM4718M spec because it doesn't
Yes, I know. I could use it in my V6, though. Again, are you dense?

XL 5W30 is for GM6094M, ( GM4718M is the spec that your camaro's are using)
Yes, I know this.

No, you can't. GM does not put it on the list. Period. As much as you want it to be there, it isn't.

I think I can see where you are getting confused. Partly my fault. For warranty sake, NO Amsoil oil meets ALL three warranty requirements stated in the owner's manual that I posted above.

I think where I confused you is when I stated that the XL line does. I was giving it props for having the API starburst and I didn't mean that it met the GM4718 spec, I meant that it will work for warranties in general because it has the API starburst, which most warranties require. I should have been more specific with my words.

So, let me be specific. No Amsoil oil meets ALL the requirements listed in owners manuals. There are some Amsoil oils that meet the specific GM cert, whether its GM6094 or GM4718, but that is not all that is required for the warranty. I copy and pasted the specifics right out of the manual. If the oil doesn't meet ALL three, you will void your warranty.

The only exception to this is the Amsoil XL line, which in fact does meet ALL three requirements for the V6 Camaro.

I hope that is more clear for you. Look, as I have said before, Amsoil is a great product...I use it on all of my out of warranty vehicles...the ASL is my favorite, but they don't meet ALL requirements for warranties with GM. Period.

I have used Mobile 1 in my wife's 2004 Avalanche and change the oil every 5,000. miles. I intend to use the same in my 2SS,6A. Have not heard of any nightmare stories from people running Mobil 1. Which ever one you start with I suggest staying with it. n116ebo
