Anyone using the Sony XAV-9500ES Head Unit?

Thinking about switching out my stock touch MyLink unit on my 2013 RS for a Sony XAV-9500ES (really want CarPlay on a bigger 10" screen). I would be using this with an iDataLink Maestro RR2 module, and the CAM1 dash kit.

Does anyone have any experience with the XAV-9500ES specifically? I am wondering more in terms of fit and ease of use, since it is a bigger screen, and I don't want it to block any of the existing functions like the HVAC vents. Bonus points if you can tell me what it's like with the CAM1 dash.

Pics are appreciated! Thank you!

Yeah, its listed under the compatible Sony head units on the idatalink maestro website. Just can’t find any reference to anyone actually using it online

lowkey don’t like the flush ones, just because the hole is so small for the screen, and usually it sits allllll the way back into that hole. I’d rather have a floating display kinda like a tesla.

I just got the ax6000, fits the dash the same size as the OEM. Great unit, it doesn’t have all the features the 9000 has. I talked to an installer and he said the 10” screen would fit. If you get the maestro it will cover the usb inputs (which don’t connect on the Sony anyway) and if you have the console gauge cluster you won’t be able to see those. Not sure how it would work if you use the PAC.
I almost went with the 10”, post pics if you do.

Yeah I have no idea how the PAC dash will work with a 10”. How is the dash that you got compared to the stock dash? Do you miss the knobs and dials at all?

It is nice tight fit on the dash, no gap. I like that it is flush with the rest of the dash. The knobs were bulky, but they are more convenient for use that the maestro screen.

Looks like the 10” screen won’t happen for me, I’m too stressed it won’t look or install right. Now I’m actually looking at the same Sony system you have, how is it for you? Any complaints? How is the wireless Carplay if you’ve used it? Seriously considering this unit.

I like it a lot. The CarPlay is great. The system loads fast, faster than OEM. The sound is awesome and the screen looks great.

The only thing that I haven’t figured out yet is a wired connection. I want to play lossless music files and you can only do that with a wired connection. I am still troubleshooting it. That said the wireless sounds great.

Install was pretty easy too.

SONY XAV-9500ES on 2013 Camaro 2LT RS

Sooo
I bit the bullet and just ended up buying the big ass sony unit. This is for documentation purposes because I seem to be the only person online that has put a 10” screen in a Camaro LOL. Pictures attached

This is with the iDatalink maestro dash kit btw, it gets completely hidden by the screen. The only functionality that the head unit can’t do is the hazards, so I basically gotta reach over the screen to hit the button. I don’t use the hazards enough for it to be an issue though.
I will also say the screen sticks out more than my liking, but cant do anything about that. I just wish it was more flush, but I love the big screen. Can’t have everything lol
