From a fellow Southern Nevada Camaro owner, I totally agree. I go through these phases of feeling guilty sometimes because I feel like I don't post enough, but the thing is, anything that pops up regarding my car has been posted, and discussed in length already. This forum literally is a treasure trove of info, and has saved me a lot of $, and headaches. Side note, what part of Southern Nevada do you live in? It's not an overly huge area, so we might run into each other sometime.

I use the search function a lot or google X with camaro5 forum afterwards. Comes up with lots of links and great posts from everyone over the years and I’ve learned a lot. It has saved me some money and also cost me lots of money lol.

After having a company vehicle for 30 years and just not having time to work on cars like I used to, the 30 years goes by and man have these cars changed. I got my Gen5 2 years ago for my 50th and joined this forum immediately. The knowledge you guys and gals have is better than any Google look up or Chilton/Haynes book. I thank you for the help you've all given me and I even read the problems that I don't post about because the knowledge on this forum just blows me away!! Great people here too!!

I'm not at 20K, yet. But I agree. Prior to this site, I figured my camaro was "just a V6" like the V6 "sports cars" of years past. Then I found this site.

Kidding aside, if the owners of this site ever decided to pull it down for some reason, I would be first in line to buy a mirror of it on a mega-terabyte hard drive just so I could maintain the resource of information here. |

I’d say the forum has saved me about as much money as it has cost me. It probably still owes me a little bit, but the amount of money I’ve saved doing most of my installations myself has saved me literally thousands of dollars.

I've been here for about 10 years. I also joined a Gen 5 V6 group on Facebook. The problem there, is that there is no expertise at all there. And if there was an answer there, you can't find it. The other thing is that there were only V6 owners there. But there is just SO MUCH automotive expertise from the SS guys that they get no benefit from.
Whenever I have a car issue, I always add camaro5 to my search. I WILL find it here. |

Completely agree. I bought my dream '13 2SS/RS last year and have found answers to every question I've had thus far from this forum. Simple things like the halo wiring harness, Sparks badges, adjust the hood height bumpers to correct mismatched alignment, how the NPP exhaust works, benefits of using a high end trans fluid (currently Royal Purple), part numbers to fix a rear axle seal leak (that a friend knocked out in no time on his lift) and ultimately helping me decide on which lowering springs and the Stainless Works Retro Chambered Catback that is really starting to dial in. Next year will be SW headers, cat delete, CAI, tune...all info gleaned from searching this site. It's always cool to do a google search and see how many Camaro5 forum results are at the top of the list. That's how I found this site to be honest.
Before I ordered the catback, I found some posts from Chris at Stainless Works that were several years old. They had his contact info listed so as a shot in the dark I sent him an email with some questions. He called me 15 minutes later, said yep, still here lol! He also did me a solid...SW has an 8-12 week production delay right now due to material shortages. I had my system in my garage about 10 days after placing the order. |

The Camaro Club does a lot of really cool runs. Or used to. Not sure what they do now. I haven't had any communication with them in close to a year. But when I was active, it seems like we were always doing some kind of fun run somewhere. Once, we even took over the strip when it was completely shut down last year. Literally. We all pulled down there and just parked our long line of Camaros on the strip for a photo op. Cops were everywhere, just stopped and watching us with their lights flashing. Great fun! |
