Replacement Tires

I searched but didnt really find what I was looking for... My tires need to be replaced and I am trying to figure out the best option. I dont want to spend money on tires that, like the PZero, wear out so fast.

I have about 34k miles and want to try to get a little more than that out of the next set. Any suggestions? What have you replaced yours with?

Thanks!
JM

You are going to have to go with a tire below the max performance summer tire rating on the P-Zeros if you want them to last longer. There is a trade-off between tire life and sticking to the road. The P-Zeros on my Camaro have plenty of tread left at almost 19k miles, should be able to hit at least 30k before I need to replace them.

The Continental Extreme Contact DWS and Yokohama Parada Spec-X both have a much higher treadwear rating (540 and 420, respectively) than the P-Zeros (220). [Note, you aren't supposed to be able to compare the UTQG rating across brands, only for tires within the same brand.] Both are all season tires instead of summer only tires.

I will say that the Spec-X tires don't seem to be holding up quite as long as I thought they would given their treadwear rating. I've got them on my Expedition and am more than half way through the tread at 20k miles.

The Continental tires your talking about look good, but they are a lot higher than the others. If they last a lot longer, then it may be worth the expense.

The UTQG # keep in mind that the higher this # one should expect more road noise and less grabbing to the road !!!!

I am interested in the Nitto's, not sure about what the largiest size i can fit on the stock 20in rims, but i want 305s, or 315s on the back if they will fit, my tires have a good 10k left in thread life, and i am at 21k miles

I just replaced my P Zeros (rear only) with Yoko Paradas. Only been one day but the handling is dramatically different - worse - I will wait to judge them until A. I break them in and B. put Paradas on the fronts as well.

Really not a good idea to put different tires on front/rear.
