LT Headers, 3" Magnaflow Competition catback, offroad xpipe. Too far?
I will be getting Kooks LT headers, the Magnaflows 3" Competition series catback exhaust, and an offroad xpipe put on my SS very soon. It doesn't seem that running catless is very popular, atleast from what I have seen. Are there any reasons for this, other than obviously having to alter your car before it is inspected, and I suppose the small risk of getting caught with it.
A buddy of mine drives a Mach 1 that has an offroad xpipe, and it is INSANE! But when he switches it to a regular midpipe, ehhhh........ So why don't more people have catless midpipes?????? And... If anyone has this setup, do you have any videos of it, I haven't seen one yet. |

I can switch back and foruth with my setup. There isn't much sound and power to be gained going from high flow cats to no cats. I also hate how the exhaust burns my eyes, and smells like s**t when I run without cats.

I just picked up my car today. I have ARH longtubes, ARH catted xpipe, and the 2.5" Magnaflow Comp Series axle back. It's LOUD. Almost too loud. It sounds very aggressive and I've already gotten a lot of compliments. No cats would just be too over the top I think.

I have the kooks LT headers with the 3" magnaflow comp exhaust with high flow cats and trust me it will be plenty loud for you. I love the sound but I think it would be too much if you don't do cats.

i dont have any sound clips but, i have exactly what you are saying. Kooks 1 7/8 coated LTs, catless connection pipes and the magnaflow 3" competiton catback. And by no means is it too loud. actually i am kinda suprised at how quiet it is for not haveing cats and being attached to LTs. My opinion is if you have to get inspected do the cats other wise save the money and get catless because you are not going to gain anything either way other than the 200 dollars you would save between the catted and non catted pipes.

Summitss/rsls3,
Have you had to swap out you midpipe for one with cats in it, and if yes, what was the sound difference? |

I haven't changed out cats, but before I got the magnaflow catback I had a muffler delete which was way too loud. A friend had the same setup (muffler delete) with LTs and cats and it was really hard to tell the difference. Only way I can explain it is that without cats it seemed like a more raw sound. The cats seemed to just mellow it out some, but as far as volume it was almost identical. Hope this helps.
