Angry Broken AC nightmare!

Just wanted to quickly share my story.

1.) I have 20k mikes on my car, and the ac stopped working about a month ago. Just blew hot air.

2.)Took it in, they said the compressor was bad. Waited a week, part came in, replaced it, all appeared to be well.

3.) After a couple days, it stopped working again. Then it would work about half power, then on the next start not work.

4.) Took it in, they said the new compressor was toast. They then realized the hvac update had not been done to my car. They did the update, ordered a new compressor.

5.) Took it back in, they installed the compressor, it ate the new compressor within minutes, totally shot.

6.) They called gm tech support, and they are having them replace some other part that controls the ac ( sorry I can't remember what it's called) and another compressor.

I drop it off next Wednesday, we will see if it works!

The dealership has been nice and feels bad, they offered me a rental but I would rather have the camaro!

Anyone else had as much bad luck with their ac?

only thing regarding a/c i know of is the update to the software that controls the on time to the comp.they had a problem with the systems freezing up so they changed comp on time, also makes your a/c not blow as cold

Make sure they flush the system to remove debris from failed compressors...

Apparently there is now metal debris in the condenser, and they are replacing that now, and she mentioned other parts as well, though i don't know what.

I am so disgusted right now.

In California you would full under the lemon law with your car and would be entitled your full refund of your money back. Sometimes they even let you keep the car and give you your money back. Its on rare occasions, but it happens. Don't know how it is in PA. Hope you get it all worked out though.

in California, your "Lemon" qualified problems have to fall within the first 18 months after you took delivery, or 18,000 miles - whichever may come first.

this user is at 20,000 miles. this is why it is so important to bring your brand new Camaro to the dealer when you have a problem, even if it's something simple that you think you can fix on your own. get everything documented. if this user had the failure at 15,000 and it was subject to repair 4 different times (like it is now), and lived in California, then his car may be eligible.

you can find this information in your 2010/2011 Chevrolet Limited Warranty And Owner Assistance Information booklet that should have come with your car.

Ouch didn't see his mileage. Yeah that's terrible luck, but I'm sure you'll have it back up and running in no time....

At least I don't have to pay anything, it's just so frustrating being told over and over more parts have to be ordered.

Not to mention my cobalt rental is not exactly awesome. :(

yeah, at very least, he should be calling GM's Customer Service number and opening a case with them. after all, GM has the obligation to fulfill the warranty issued with the car.

i have 3 different GM Customer Service numbers in front of me...

1-800-222-1020

1-866-509-9090

1-800-508-3060

the squeaky wheel gets the grease... and you may still get greased in the form of having your AC fixed, plus some free oil changes or discounts on accessories or something like that.

the Cobalt is the Camaro's freckle faced red headed stepchild...

i believe you can be reimbursed for a rental of a GM vehicle up to $35/day. i would have demanded the nicest car i could get for $35 - though i really don't know what the rental rates are these days.

I definitely feel you on this. My fiance and I had to go through the lemon law process with our toy-box trailer. It was a nightmare. What was worse was going through the warranty department just like you are and nothing was getting fixed. We ended up falling under the 30 calender day rule because it sat at the shop for 3 months in the middle of dirt biking season. I WAS FURIOUS!
