Question about Diablo SPort Predator Tune
i have never tuned a vehicle before and was reading up on the Diablo Sport Predator. I have a L99, with a K&N CAI installed. Would this tuner right out of the box and just plug in and work, or do i have to do something on my computer? Also would my cold air intake take away from the effectivness of the tune? thanx....any other tips will be appreciated

The CAI will complement the tune, and yes, it is plug and play, load the tune, and go out and enjoy it, all takes less than 5 minutes!

I also have a L99 with K&N Aircharger and did the Diablosport Predator (and also replaced my resonator with an Edelbrock x-pipe and did the GMPP "Off-Road" axle back system) ....
All I have to say is DAMN! She pulls hard thru the mid-range and all the way up ... On the dyno, without an tweaks by the tuner, just the CAI, exhaust and canned tune I saw an increase of around 33-35 HP and 40-42ft/lbs ... VERY pleased ... THIS is how this car SHOULD run .... |

Yes, in short it will. If you're strapped for cash or plan on doing more modifications soon that will require a retune, then stick with the canned tune for now. If not, a dyno or even data-log based tune is the way to go.

As good as the DS tune is for the A6, it still lacks TCM tune capability. A trans tune really increases the Fun-To-Drive.

when you install the DS tune on the camaro, does the stock tune save onto the predator so you could simply load it if you wanted to go in and have warrenty work done? Also you dont have to purchase the PC interface kit in order to plug it into your car correct?

My experience with the Diablo Trinity Tuner;
I used the Diablo 93 Octane Tune, and didn't experience any improvements in performance at all. Currently invested in a "custom" tune file to see if there can be some improvements on stock vehicle performance. It will be another few weeks before I'll be able to record a data log to see if there is any fuel economy, or engine improvements. Planning, on modifications to air and exhaust systems in the future, so I believe I will get some value out of re-tunes over time using the Diablo Trinity device, and I can always replace the stock tune to the vehicle, and or backup any other performance tuens that may be dialed into the vehicle after upgrading parts. However, for immediate improvement my SprintBooster investment $300 was a much better purchase (with stock tune), and the $600 for the Diablo Trinity could have been invested in headers, exhaust or a CAI to provide better performance with stock tune. And, then if I wanted to spend some extra $$$ to get better mileage and engine performance I could have purchased the Trinity tuner at that point in time. Over the next few weeks, I'll see if there are any other improvements with a custom tune (without SprintBooster enabled), and I'll post my results. |

Just FYI, that Sprint Booster does nothing for wide open throttle performance. All it does is remap your gas pedal to throttle relationship.

Diablo tune shortcomings
Yes you can save your stock tune to the predator. I installed the diablo tune on mine, I have Kooks headers with front cats removed, flowmaster exhaust, and K&N CAI. I have consistently gotten engine warning lights for cats and fuel banks being too lean. These are in the PCM and I am unable to clear the codes. I am going for a dyno tune in hopes to clear the codes and get a little more performance. I did see a little improvement in the low end with the diablo tune but not too much.

I'm pretty sure DiabloSport's equipment does nothing with the TCM, so it will not matter what mode your transmission is in.
