One thing you find is "junk yard" and "stock" making 1000+ online for a single dyno pull, is completely different than a real world. It takes some people a lot of money to figure out 1000hp isn't cheap or easy, and just because you can do it once on a dyno doesn't mean you can go do 100+ 1/4 or 1/2 mile passes and it survive. It is cheaper to do it right the first time then over and over every 20 passes.

I'm building the shortblock on my Huron speed turbo car. I'm worried some about the stock valves also. The car with be in e85 with meth. I might just leave them alone. I can't decide

By what I've seen the LSA and LS3 are the same deck thickness just the LSA is a better material.

Now if you can afford an aftermarket thick deck head, that is even better, but LSAs are a solid budget setup for that power level.

Not much work on the 5thGen just beating the hell out of it. I did pull the 502 out of the 68 and putting what should be around 650 HP built ls3 in it.

No doubt. You can tell while your porting them that the material is better.

It really just depends on your budget..
But stock LS3 castings, properly ported can flow incredible numbers. Some of the best stock ported castings I've seen have flown 375cfm @ I believe .600 lift, on the intake and 249 exhaust. And should be plenty capable if built properly of holding ~1000rwhp, But if your budget is a little more healthy, things like MAST Black Label is definitely a better option. But personally I don't think chucking out extra money to go LSA heads over GMPP ported heads would be money well spent... Would just have the GMPP heads reworked. Things like those TEA heads are really good as well but they too are just ported LS3 castings, so you're spending extra money vs just sending your current heads to them to be ported.

I think it's less about what the heads flow and more about keeping them from flexing/warping when under the stress of a 1000HP motor. Pushing headgaskets isn't fun. |

LS3 heads pushed water at 14-16 lbs, pushed the gaskets at 18 lbs... LSA heads pushed water at 18-20 lbs, and pushed the gasket out at 24 lbs... New 6 bolt heads, been to 28 lbs, absolutely not a drop lost. We've been told we can go to 35 lbs without worrying about it... Haven't pushed them that far...yet.... AllPro LSW12-4 heads...
