Here's my take. This is obviously a fear story produced by a slow automotive news day. Think about it: The Mustang pretty much has its own platform, and it isn't priced near the Vette. The Challenger shares a platform with just the Charger and 300. So why would the Camaro be the only one to skyrocket in price just because a few models have supposedly been killed off?
Makes good sense!

That does make sense, however, Challenger shared that platform with three other cars. I think the Mustang was on a Lincoln LS platform, which doesn't make it all that different than the Camaro's circumstance, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

MAY THAT NEVER HAPPEN I DO NOT LIKE ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Since I don't drive with one or two wheels off the ground I find if also unnecessary for the extra maintence$.

DC doesn't have snow we have ice. So it still doesn't help. Ya can't stop on ice no matter what you have!

Not really it is in the maintence. If you mess it up - it is a big buck repair bill.

Just something else to remember...

The Zeta patform is GLOBAL. So, if they infact have to cancel a few US RWD models, there are still other models in other countries that will help defer the costs of the platform development. GM is not going to price the Camaro out of the range of it's competitors. That would be business suicide, and GM has had their heads on pretty straight as of late.

Well it would be offered as an option, not standard. So as usual, giving the choice to consumers is good. Also, as the GTR and certain Audi models prove a good performance designed AWD system can provide for some great launches and handling.

This is true. Really in all honesty, the way my teenagers drive it doesn't matter. Look what they did to a 4 wheel drive a couple of weeks ago.
