What effect does a tune have?
What effect does a tune have on collectibility. Now I know a ton of people on here have gone over this that a production car shouldn't be seen as a collectible, but just think about it. In 30-40 years if these cars are to be in a similar situation as te first gen camaros, a totally stock 100% original will be worth more. Now some people will be able to put there car back to stock if they choose to, but what about the cars that are tuned, it isn't like a carbed car from the 1960s, the tune is permanent. Right? I am not trying to start an argument, I just was wondering what others thought of this.

Wonderfully Awful Idea

If I'm not mistaken tunes can be put back to factory specs but will be logged as having been tuned.

That's just it, to car collectors knowing the background of the car is everything, that tune will always be there even if put back to factory specs it will be with the car

I'm no pro but once you tune a car it goes into its memory as ''flashed''. Collectors won't like that because it's irremovable. I think you can buy a whole new computer system [data base or whatever it's called] for it and in 30-40 years swap it so no one will know the car has been tuned.

I would think that by the time a car is collectable, condition will rule and a tune will be a non-issue.

In 30 or 40 years, it won't matter one way or the other if the car is "tuned". It won't have any warranty left anyway. You can put the factory tune back in, assuming you still have the equipment around to do it. IMO, a modern computer controlled car will probably never be "collectable" like the old 60's muscle cars. Everything about those cars was mechanical and can be rebuilt or replaced. Some of the more modern electronic modules of newer cars are already impossible to find. They are no longer in production, and nobody in the aftermarket is producing some of these parts.

Old guy here with generic question - just needing a generic response. What results would I expect with a tune on my V6? Are there concerns with getting one?

Is it me or is does this not make any sense? Tuning is just adjusting th settings and it can be put back to factory. It would be like saying "it's not factory because some one set the raio stations in the favorites".
Or adjusted the remote start settings. If they did the old chip swap an actually changed a component then, yeah. I might even be different if there were a limit to the number if times it could b flashed. But there is not. If someone tells you the car is not factory because I was tuned, tell them to buy a car with a carb!! They do not understand electronics Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Without mods no real reason to tune. A tune does void warranty.
