I think 4.2 is for a dry build. The service manual says 3.65 qts after a repair. Which is closer, all the times I've changed a Tremec's lube, it's come to around 3 3/4 qts before it's coming out the fill hole. So just buy 4 qts.

Red Line D4 here as well and yes the transfer pump makes it a breeze. I couldn't get quite all of the 4th quart in either, I've been real happy with the D4, I've had it in the trans all summer.

Mine took 3.75 quarts and started pouring out of the fill hole so 3.65 sounds about right.

Hey Whipped, why you switching from Amsoil to Redline? I've always heard that Amsoil is one of the best Did you have problems with it?

Looking to do the redline d4 in near future. Seems to be the fluid that makes the most difference from all the threads ive read. Always used royal purple in transmissions in the past, redline in rear amd amsoil in the engine....Still in break-in period. Almost 300mi. On the clock.

I just did mine today, haven't driven much since I did. In the little bit of driving I did it seemed noticeable but not massive, but I'll see with more driving. The separate clutch reservoir was a great mod too.
