Tuning really sucks ( who to believe )
OK, I had my car on a dyno and I posted the sheet in another post. We all saw that I was lean way to much time and then rich right at the end. I emailed this sheet to my tuner along with a logged run. Now I'm told from them everything is just fine. I've seen other dyno sheets on here and the A/F line is ALOT smoother than mine. So now it seems everyone is a great tuner and contacting me (PMs) about what they can do for me. Well I have $1,000.00 invested already and we all see where that has gotten me. How can I make myself not want to go back to stock or convince myself another tuner will do any better. I know I will spend another $1,000.00+ for two tunes and some software. I know there are great tuners out there but with this LFX none are close to me. So than I have travel time and leave my car or hotel for a couple days. After this experience are Emailed tunes really as good as a dyno tune? I want to go fast and keep the LFX community going at a good pace. You folks have helped me reach this point of fun/horsepower now I just need some more help on my next or maybe final decision. PLEASE NO BASHING, I just want good respectful input.
Thanks, Rick |

Hit up Rhino79 or Matt @ FSP and see if they can help. I don't think it will cost $1K to get HP or EFI live and a remote tune from them.

I agree with this. You have an LFX, take advantage of that. Rhino79 and Matt@FSP are two of the best out there. Don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

Derricks car's afr was flat as a pancake before the turbo install when I did some baseline tuning. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks for feedback folks. I sent a PM to Matt@FSP to hook me up. I did not come this far to quit.

July 3 update. Got the A/F meter in and just received my HP Tuners software in the mail. On vacation this week, so more to follow in the coming weeks.

UPDATE: Couple tuning updates done so far. Engine feels ( butt dyno ) very crisp and transmission shifts are nice. It's been in the upper 90s+ here so bear with MATT and myself as we deal with this fun weather. So far I am soooooooo glad I decided to go this route and not give up. i love the HP Tuners software, I get to see LIVE data and can look at the changes being made with each tune update. More to come be patient and when the weather breaks I'm hoping to do some all motor runs. Once that is all worked out than some nitrous tuning.

Tagging along!! MATT is only an hour drive from me if i go that route. I have a Dynotunenitrous Wideband AFR/Nitrous Pressure on the way and will be anxious to see where my Trifecta has my numbers at various stages of throttle. Hate spending the money twice though...neither one are cheap!! I do like the idea of what u just got so i could turn the fans on sooner. It gets so hot and humid down here!
Does his tune include free updates? what about adjusting the timing for the NOS?

Depending on the updates... I do not want to go into tuning wars of tuner A vs B here. What I will say is that how we are doing it with the wideband gauge attached is one of the best methods. Others cannot get widebands to log in their software, so they are relying on customer input and estimated RPM ranges for the wideband reading. We are looking right at the actual wideband being logged and adjusting that way. We really don't have any planned future updates, but yes if I came across something in another tune that would work well on yours I would do a free update no problem. If you add heads/cam combination to the car, then we'll go on a per case by case basis on how much additional for that round of mods. Right now we have a sweet deal going on that includes a free custom tune (This does not mean one tune file, this means from start to finish remote tuning) coupled with the HPTuners software. You are more than welcome to come here to use the dyno, we can get some base pulls on the car and see if it would be worth even touching the current tune. That is up to you. etmx: Just shot you a file bud. Enjoy the Camaro cruise! |
