Caught a Retread Today...
Be damned if it wasn't a crap start to what was supposed to be a great weekend at the Streets of Willow road course. Damage looks to be all cosmetic but the front clip, lower grill, and associated parts will need to be replaced to include repainting the custom rally stripes. Sucks but what are you gonna do.
Hopefully I will be in full rebound and take it out on some unsuspecting Mustangs tomorrow. I see the participant list includes a Boss 302. Let's see just how good those things run.

You're lucky. Those road gators can cause MAJOR damage. Glad to hear that things aren't "all that bad".

Glad you were in a car and not on a bike. Those things can make you lose control and wipe out, not to mention hurt like hell :(

I've seen road gators take out entire intercoolers on turbocharged vehicles before...
Nasty creatures they are... |

I caught one last night. It caused damage to my rear quarter panel and it gave me a flat tire. I was going to get new tires eventually, but because it happened now I had to spend my Black Friday money. I guess there is always next year.

Sorry to hear that. I caught one on my daily driver on the freeway and it tore half of the front bumper facia off. The damn thing looked to be about 9' long and was laying across my lane in full traffic. Ugh.

Because most semis on the road run retread tires, which are old worn out tires with a new tread put on them. They like to come apart.

I have always said these need to be serial numbered in more than one place. The serial number put in a data base so someone could process a damage claim. This is caused by a lazy ass driver that did not check the air pressures in his tires and they overheated the glue causing it to fail. There needs to be a way to process a claim against these instead of our insurance paying for this disregard for public safety.

Your right. These things are not accidentally flying off trucks. Its called a round about check drivers. And I do believe that 99% of our drivers are very responsible and good drivers ,based on what I have seen. And no, I am not a trucker. Its that 1% that will get you every time. |
