LS3 90mm Throttle Body Question
I've read that a lot of guys like to swap to the LS3 90mm TB for better throttle response. Do you need an LS3 MAF sensor or will the stock LSA work?

Stock MAF works fine but you will need a tune to adjust certain parameters.

I have run both a LS3 and Ported LS2 (for sale) out of the box with no tune changes. The Throttle response is definitely different. A touch quicker.
When I switched to the 102mm I had to change the scalar but that was it. |

+1. You can just plug in the 90mm TB and go.

Ok might be a dumb question but?
I had a 2011 2ss that I had a vmax CNC ported TB. I took it off before they totaled the vehicle and installed the stock TB. Are you saying I could take that Vmax CNC ported TB and just swap them out in my 2013 ZL1 and it would be fine or would I need to at that point have a tune to change the scalar. Thanks |

Should be fine, only have to update scalar if the diameter changes.

Well I installed the VMAX ported Throttle body from my 2011 2ss and it seems to work really good. I have the stock airbox but an AEM filter that I bought for my 11 but never used since I got a good deal on a Cold air Inductions intake.
Might be a crazy question but how would I know if I needed to adjust the scalar with a tune? Could I theoretically monitor it by the Throttle body air compensation % via a scanner? erratic idle? Thanks for any help. |

You should be good without changing the scalar when changing from the 87 to the 90. There are several stock GM tunes with slightly different scalars for the 90mm throttle body, actually.
