Even then, it's a better comparison, as the 0-60 and quarter mile times are in the ball-park. The price range is similar too. But if I was at the head of the Ford performance department, I'd be a bit ashamed than cars with 100 less hp and loads less torque are achieving similar times (all due to stroke... if only the Americans would give up long-strokes).
The thing you need to remember is the GT500 is 100% about performance.

The cars you've listed above, M3, RS4, IS-F, are HALF about performance, half about having a luxury car.

thats what I said.

There is a reason when the camaro came out and the 3 pony cars were reviewed together

there was a Challenger RT Mustang GT[not500] and Camaro SS

WHY?

LOOK AT PRICE?

A 1st grader could understand this logic I dont know why some people cant let it go.

cuz even a modded camaro still cheaper vs stock GT500 really isnt a camparison either for the camaro will beat it.

Yet they are as fast if not faster and the same price. I don't get your point.

Edmunds also says that the GT500 should be compared to the Corvette ...

As far as I'm concerned this is the best rational for comparing cars.

Vette Base coupe $48,565+950 destination.
Base coupe btw will not win against a GT500. And I have yet to see a NEW vette less than 50k. At least here in S.Fla

Vette Z06 coupe $73,925+950 destination
Faster yes. Look at the base price tag, and we know they go for more than that.

Vette Zr1 $103,970+950 destination.
W O W

These are prices I got just by googling "Corvette pricing."

Ok I know the fanboys here will go "well the KR is over a 100k !!" Yes..sadly it is. That car is a blight on the ford blue oval. In truth it was nice to do, but someone at ford was smoking a huge fatty when they priced it out. Only a collector will ever buy that car, but it did serve its purpose. The GT500 2010 is basically a KR.

So as we compare please stop saying a Vette is faster !!! Yes...we know. I think anyone who knows anything about a car knows that. But last time I checked, the Vette is not a pony car. Never was. Not even in the 60's...The GT40 was the only car Ford made to be termed in the supercar class, and well we all knowthat did not last long.

My point being, these cars trump the GT500.

They match the GT500's performance (which is all it offers..) , yet offer 1st class luxury along with that for the same price. To compare these cars is insulting. You dont buy a car like that for the performance, you buy it because you want both, something the GT500 doesnt have which is why it will loose the comparison every time.

You're correct. Thank the Lord for good old-fashioned American muscle.

BTW, that should be "lose" not "loose'".

How do you campare a F/I car with a N/A car?

Unfair IMHO.

Well if they are both stock...

I guess you could factor the F/I into your comparison if it makes you feel better.

Agreed there both stock BUT one has F/I one does not, kind of a tough unfair comparison. No real way to even it out as noone but Ford drops S/C in there stock cars.

You hear that Chevy and Dodge GIVE US F/I from the factory!!!!!

End rant.
