Trying to figure out how to apply the Midnight Sun over top the Wet Diamond.

Brand new vehicle, IronX foam wash, rinse, Speedy Prep towel (loved it), two coats Wet Diamond 24 hours apart (best stuff ever) and just tried to put Midnight Sun over a couple of small sections another 24 hours later. Tough to apply and remove. Can not get the finish back to a silky, glossy finish of the Wet Diamond. Guess the Wet Diamond finish is a spoiler. Did I not wait long enough? Am I putting too much paste down. I immediately buffed off the very small sections I did. Then buffed with several clean, super soft microfibers for a lengthy time. Finish is still not as silky as before. Had the same upsetting experience with my camaro last year, but then I let the paste dry too long. Did not let it dry at all tonight.

You are most likely using too much product. You only need a very fine amount for a thin layer.

I don't know if the OP recommended the old or new formula ULTIMA TIRE & TRIM GUARD PLUS, I bought some of the new formula and it sucks.

Thanks, all I could find was micro-terry applicators the other night. Used a red foam applicator tonight and tried to limit the amount. Worked better.
Still not the extreme silk feeling the Wet Diamond leaves, but smooth enough. I left a few sections without wax to see if I can tell a difference with rain, etc.

Yeah I use Wet diamond and love it. I have not tried Midnight sun over it as my understanding it is only to add that Carnuba glow and depth to the finish. I prefer a Sealants super slick feel and easy cleaning ability's and longevity and dont want a wax over it spoiling may favorite quality easy cleaning.

I wish CamaroDreams07 was still around so I could thank him profusely for his expert advice and his incredible knowledge of automotive detailing.

Following his step by step advice has been one of the wisest things I have ever done.

Thank you CamaroDreams07.

This thread is awesome. I used this as a guide to stock up on some new supplies because all my stuff was old and wax dried up, etc. Everything that I selected was great. All the towels and waxes were great and I can see why you rated them as favorites. If anyone is hesitating to spend the money on Blackfire Paste wax.......just buy it. This stuff is so awesome I buttered my toast with it for breakfast. Thanks for posting!

I went with:

Dry Me Crazy towel
MF Madness Incredimitt
MF Crazy Pile
Optimum wash
Meguiars 205 polish
Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant
Blackfire Midnight Sun paste wax
