SOLO J Pipes - yep they work

I already had the SOLO high flow cats/mid pipes and MachX catback, which sounded great to me. However, I had the 1800 rpm drone that a lot of people experience. It didn't bother me as much as I think it did my wife, as she has tenitus or ringing in her ears. Long hiway trips were a bit much.

I had the J pipes installed on Saturday, and immediately could tell the difference in town. But once hitting the hiway, the benefits were obvious. The cabin roar was gone, but you could still hear the exhaust rumble. Very nice! Thanks SOLO.

Correct. Ordered just the add-on J pipes portion and had them welded on.

Hi there,
Did you have to adjust the j pipes once installed from the preset position? If so, how did you do it? I am going to be installing the high flows soon, and concerned about any drone from that.

Thanks!

Good deal. This is something I am thinking of doing. The low rpm drone on my borla s-type catback is driving me nuts.Just a matter of getting prices onthe j pipes from Solo and the price of having someone install them.Did you find a drastic change in the sound of your exhaust itself after the install that you would consider a minus?

Just so you know, they don't have to be from Solo, you can get bent piping and make up your own, you'd just have to get the right measurements for the frequency you're trying to kill. It's not the same length for all exhausts.

I had some made up for my MRT.

There was a slight different in sound. Maybe slightly quiter but I only noticed it because the shop that did the install, revved the car before and after and I could hear it in the waiting room. It still sounds great to me.

I didn't change SOLO's preset length on the pipes. As far as I can tell it's killing most of the done normally found from about 1600 to 2000 rpm. or 65-80 mph in 6th gear, right where they had it set.

Glad it worked out for you Lee. They do look interesting and it's nice that they tuck up under everything.

Thanks David! The SOLO's are hidden very well. For those not familar here are some pictures. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...04&postcount=1

The difference without drone is huge. If I drop a gear and run the rpms up above 2100, I can hear the drone come back in. If I ever get 4.11 gears I'd have to adjust the Js.

For those ranges if I were to get the proper length for 2000 rpm's does it kill the drone for all rpms below that?

P.S. IndeedSS1 did you just call up Solo-Performance and ask for some J-Pipes?

I always thought the J-pipes were held on with clamps, so they could be adjustable................
