I think alot of people are steering clear of the auto for the reason that once you get done with the gas guzzler tax its a pricey option. Mine here in Pa. was 2300.00 tax which is double the tax of the manual, plus the cost of the trans so 3300 bucks extra it costed me

Has the overall performance exceeded your expectations or under performed on the Auto? I know the gas guzzler tax is a turn off. But is the auto really a great transmission?

I will have to agree, the shifting on the auto is so smooth and no lag at all - simply incredible!!!

Shifting is just like any other auto when you're puttin around. But get after it and "Bro Zeke" changes in an instant. The shifts are quick and crisp. The downshifts with rev matching are fantastic. The skip shifts when downshifting are sweet. Yes it was $1,185 for the auto and $1,300 extra for the GG Tax. In my book it was $2,485 well spent.

I got auto only because of remote start and the amount of driving I do would kill me with the manual.
ZL1 will be a daily driver, just like my SS is today.
SS was purchased in June of 2011 and it has 32K miles on it already. Just waiting for the ZL1 and I will part with the SS.
I enjoy driving my car and will continue using as DD.

Went with the auto this time. I've always had a manual in the past. But this will be my DD as long as the weather is good. I have a decent commute to work now and I don't want to deal with a manual in stop and go traffic every day. I also think the tapshift will be a lot of fun to use. I would like to take the car to a track at least a few times a year, 1/4 mile or road course.

I bought the Manual because I am basically "old school" and I want it to shift when I WANT. I just love to be able to drop it down one gear at those special times. And yes I know that this automatic is FABULOUS. If I was a drag racer I would have gotten the automatic without hesitation.

Manual for sure, have an auto in my GT and there are days I regret it but it's my everyday driver so the auto is fine but for my Z I want the whole driving experience not just steering the car, it was a no brainer for me but everybody's got their own opinion, you have to do what makes you happy. These cars make you VERRRRY HAPPY

I agree with you. I love the feeling of being totally in tune with the car and pulling the trigger sort of speak when I want to. I drove a turbo 400 auto for drag racing purposes, but driving on the road under all general conditions, I must have a stick. I feel plugged into the car, part of the circuit per se.

Automatic and loving it. The tap shifts take some getting used to though.

I ordered the A6 and will still have the SS with LS3 when I feel the need to row gears.
