Those butterfly valves are only on the L99 convertibles and according to my dealership are installed to reduce exhaust sound (AFM) on the verts.

Also, there is a Service bulletin out there about a squeaky noise they can make when they open.


Have it on mine and its annoying as can be. Almost makes me not want to accelerate. No just kidding, actually it makes me floor it harder so that I can't hear it
