No harm done! I still very much appreciate you starting these threads. Without the speedo thread, I would haven't taken this on.

Fyi...if anyone (now or future) needs anything else on the dash control...I now have an extra functioning unit but the LCD is missing some rows, and there is a thin scratch on the front cover over the LCD.

And here's the whole dash, now:

In this pic, the letters look orange - but the display is actually a deep red and looks much better IRL. I shorted the board on one light, but it's difficult to see where unless I point it out. Also, I had planned to change out all the controls, but I really like the contrast with the blue/red, and am thinking I will just keep this as is. Now just need to tackle the switches in the steering wheel, and the interior is about done

Shut the hell up!? The RED looks AWESOME Cary!!
Great job on that install... wish I can do that to mine!? I really miss that about my '01 Friebird I traded for my RS, it's the all RED dash lighting

Has anyone figured out how to change the color of the rings on the radio and a/c knobs? I'd like to make mine blue if I could.

not unless you can find someone to make that interior ring a different color. See picture in first post, 5th up from the bottom.

Yeah I figured that was the case. Wasn't sure if there was a scrape and paint method like for the gauge needles or if the rings were red plastic. I'll keep thinking about it! Thanks.

Exactly how many LEDs you need are going to depend on which LEDs you're wanting to change.

okay.. sorry, been a long last couple of days!

You'll need 16 PLCC-2s. These go on the screen part of the radio.

Also, 37 of the 1206s if you changed the same ones I did and adding the LED for the A/C cold dot & one for the Heater hot dot. (They're marked with a blue X and a red X in the picture.)

I don't know if you'd want to or not, but I also changed the LEDs for the seat heaters. I did mine to red, but if you changed to dark blue, that's another 4 LEDs.

So, that's a total of 41 of the 1206s.

Always get a couple of extra though. They are tiny and can be easily lost if you drop any.

Welcome

Be sure to post it up when you get it finished!

by the way, I think I'm done changing mine, lol

I had the issues with the blue a/c dot thing. I wanted that next hash mark green, but it changed the blue to a blue-ish green, so then I changed the led back to blue, then all the hash marks were green except the first one.. ugh..

so I finally just changed all the hash marks to white, all others to green.

Unfortunately, for some reason, I can't seem to get the green to show up very well in the photo, looks whiteish, but it's the same vivid green as it was back in the first posts.
