I am getting the "bump" and it seems to be happening more frequently. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to make it happen on demand. I don't want to take her in and not be able to reproduce the issue for the service writer. I am sitting at a little over 4500 miles right now.

I just bought a brand new 2015 zl1 and i have the decel whine. I'm pissed off and not sure what i'm going to do. The dealer mechanics are idiots and i'm not letting them touch my car.

My 15 ZL1 has developed the decel whine. Same deal as most in this thread. Back off the throttle at 40+ mph and the rear whines loud. When the engine is pulling, it's quiet.
I took it to the dealer I bought it through this week. They kept it for 2 days, did nothing and told me it's perfectly normal for it to whine like that. They tried to tell me it was the computer downshifting the trans that causes the noise. I know that's BS so needless to say I'm not a happy camper at the moment. I guess that's what I get for trying to support the dealer that's close by. My right headlight bucket also has a serious condensation problem. The left is perfectly clear but the dealer says that condensation is perfectly normal in a hot wet climate. So next week it's on to step 2. Take it to another dealer and hope they don't try to BS me too.

I've had the decel whine since day #1. Many of us are born with this. I am keeping an eye out for it. Like many of you, I am very wary of the lack of quality and care from some dealer service centers, so it will also have to go to a competent shop if I ever decide to fix or address the noise.

I dropped my '15 off this morning for the gear whine I have coasting between 40 and 50 mph. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the dealer will fix it right the first time.

The service writer called me this afternoon and told me that her and her boss took the car for a drive and they could hear the gears winding down, but it is normal. I'm pretty upset at that stance as I don't consider any gear noise from the rear end normal. I'm scheduled to meet with them on Monday to take the car out for a drive and argue the noise I am hearing is abnormal.

If it was normal, they all would do it. Hope you get resolution, that is crap.

A very faint whirr IS normal. If it is loud then there is a problem with the ring and pinion.
Get them to go for a ride in a new one on the lot and compare.

My argument is the gears are quiet except in a certain speed range in which the noise is very noticeable. We will see where I get on Monday. |
