Hard Decision
To make a long story short : Local dealers has a 2013 3lz Z06 that stickered for $88.000 and would not work on price.Wife saw an all black 2013 ZL1 and fell in love with it.I told her if I got the ZL1 I was going to add the Lingenfelter 700 + horse power package. She said no problem , go for it.Now dealer with the Z06 wants to move it and would drop to $77.000 .I would only add cai and exhaust to the Z06.How would the 2 cars compare. Will not track the cars but would do some red light runs

By the ZL1. The Z06 is about to be outdated in 3 months! We still have 2 years on the C5.

Do you have kids, would you like to take your kids to car shows? Maybe that doesn't matter to you. Are you just plain more of a Vette or a Camaro person? What did you grow up loving? Z06's are really bad ass, I had cash to buy either, frankly I could have been a little stupid and paid cash for a ZR1, but I really had my mind set on a 5th Gen Camaro, so I got a ZL1, never going to sell. Maybe one day I'd like to toy around with a Z06 or another Corvette too, but if I'm only going to have the one "sports car" it's going to be a Camaro, but that's what matters to me. I see a lot of guys on here that trade cars every so often, new Vette comes out they get it, new CTS V comes out they trade the Vette. I'm more the type that I have my ZL1, I'd like to add a Z/28, not trade, and then get a 6th Gen as a daily driver and have all three, that's me.

go for the ZL1 and do the modds u stated. it will keep up if not be faster than a stock z06 with a cai and exhaust. and u have room for the grand kids. 700hp in a camaro will be more than enough power.

See if can you test drive each. If not sit in both cars and see which one is more appealing to you.
Honestly I feel in love with the design of the 5th gens when they first came out. My wife and I had the funds for either the ZO6 or the ZR1 but just like the ZL1 better. We were not to thrilled with the cramped feelings of the corvette and how low it is to the ground. Don't get me wronge the vets are awesome cars, but just not for us. You and your wife need to make the final choices, but for us it was a no brainer. Oh and I could not leave well enough alone and keep mine stock. Mine has 600 hp to the rear and life begins when the kids are out of the house and on there own. Good luck and post a pic of what you finally end up purchasing.

Check these out. Two Brits evaluate the ZO6. Then a big Ol' American Hoonigan plays with a 700HP ZL1. I don't know about you but the choice seems like a no brainer to me.

ZL1...ZL1...ZL1 - Z06 are a dime a dozen. I have 4 in the neighborhood I live in. A 700hp ZL1, that is special. Oh, and it comes with a back seat just in case,

If the Z06 has the Z07 package (carbon ceramic brakes, magnetic shocks, same upgraded tires as the ZR1) then get the Z06. A stock ZL1 was faster at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) than a stock Z06 but slower than a Z06 with the Z07 option package (about 1-1/2 second per lap spreads between each of them).

But he would not be keeping the ZL1 stock if he purchases it, read his post.
