Summit White Paint

Just picked up new 2010 summit white camaro two weeks ago and noticed during my first wash that the color of the front and rear bumpers, which are plastic and the gas cover are a slightly different color than the rest of the car. No biggy at the time, but today I checked it out while the sun wasn't shining and the difference is way greater. Put call in to dealer but thought I'd throw it out the the Camaro community before he gets back to me. Any similar experiences out there?

Its pretty common I guess. anyone know what the resolution is? I really dont want to bug the dealer unless I know that chevy has been like repainting the cars.

Thanks. The gas lid stands out the most. I'm a painter, so maybe its me!

If you're a painter, than you should know better than anyone that different substrates will yield different results...

Especially at different lighting levels!

Had the same problem. Had it checked out by the dealer when I first got it. Went to 2 different dealers, both auto body guys said that they could re-paint under warranty but couldn't guarantee that it would look any better and may even be worse. Got the every paint mixture is slightly different and the bumbers are painted seperate from the body of the car and the composition of the bumper. So I chose to let it be, some colors are worse than others....RJT like I have and the IOM seem to be the worst. Especially in the earlier numbers. I'm in the 12's. GM's resolution to me was the smart care plan at no cost.....12k miles or 1 year of free routine maintenance...really a joke because I think I'll only get 1 maybe 2 oil changes out of it.

I recently had a problem with the back bumper and the paint coming off to the primer. Brought it back for an estimate.....He doesn't even want to repaint it....."if it bothers you that much...about 500 and the paint issue again and how it is so hard to match metallic paints.......

if you think that the bumpers are off on the white ones, you should look at about 50% of them.....the doors dont match the rear quarters! (when viewed from an angle) May be just the way the light hits it.....im not sure

My fuel door and rear bumper are a little off, but no one seems to notice but me. Front bumper seems the same as the rest though. I'd rather live with it then risk a bad re-paint job.

My bumpers are fine, but the fuel door is just a shade different. I can hardly notice, but it is there. No one else has noticed though.

If the bumpers were off, the only solution I woul want would be to paint the whole car. That way, the paint "should" match.

It's because the quarters are so wide the angle of them gives off a different color. One side of my car has been painted (fender/door) and I thought they messed it up because the door was different from the quarter, until my dad pointed out that it looked the same on the other side which hasn't been touched lol.
