Unhappy Code Question, Dealer Issues

I placed an order for a 2011 on June 3. They told me the car would be here by the third week of August. Going in today, the manager tells me that my order status is at 1100? Is this typical? How much longer would it take nowadays for the car to be delivered?

They told me it might be a color constraint issue, having ordered an RJT. There was a CGM on the lot that I was willing to buy, but they wouldnt go below MSRP, and after having ordered the original car for 200 over invoice, I left pretty upset. Advise please.

Thanks

If I remember correctly, 1100 means that they have not submitted the order to GM yet. It is still in the dealership's system.

Man that sucks. I ordered my RJT on Aug. 4th and I'm still at 1100. It sucks because there are people who have ordered after me and their cars are already built. I believe it has to do with the amount of allotments the dealer has. I'm pretty sure what the dealer told you about the paint is BS. I would probably considering reordering from a different dealer, after you chew the original dealer out.

Here is the link to the event codes. I think you may need to find a different dealer.

The thing is, I have a $500 deposit on the ordered car. If it takes more than 30 days to go from 1100 to my garage, then I can buy a car from somewhere else now, and get a refund for my deposit later. So, does anyone know, on average, how long that should take?

You need to go into your original dealer and tell them that this is BS. Your going on the fourth month since you've ordered the car. You need to tell them they are going to
Lose a sale if they don't figure something out quick, and that you want your deposit back if they can't do something. Talk to a manager.

I ordered my 2011 LT2 on July 5th. Car was built on Aug. 11th...picked car up at dealership on Aug. 19th. And the Oshawa assembly plant was shut down for two weeks too(July 5th thru July 19th).

If you are at event code 1100 you will stay at 1100 until the dealer has an allocation for your order. Your dealer is lying to you. As I see it, the only reason you are still at 1100 is because the dealer never had allocation. If he doesn't get an allocation for 4 more weeks, then you'll stay at 1100 for 4 more weeks.

Do you have a workbench order number? Should be a 6 digit number starting with an "N". The day you ordered the car, the dealer should have given you that order number. Nothings going to happen with your order until the dealer gets an allocation. If he had allocation, you should have been at event code 3000 within 3-4 days.

If the dealer had allocation, you should have had your car within 8-10 weeks from the day you ordered. RJT doesn't take any longer than any other color.

To answer their other statement there is no constraint on RJT as you can see from my order history in my signature.

Estimate 6-8 weeks once the order goes past 1100.

There are plenty of dealers that will go below MSRP so I'd find another dealer. Several are on the forum and have excellent reps. They would be more than happy to help. Also depending on what options you want they may have one on the lot.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice. I want to buy from a different dealer. They even had the nerve to give me the wrong order number when I asked for it. I should have never went to them in the first place. It seems like it will take well more than 30 days to recieve the ordered car. Here's a dilemma though, on the yellow order reciept they gave me, they wrote by hand "Special Order. Deposit is Not Refundable," whereas, it says in the fine print, that if I have not recieved the car within 30 days of August 2010, I am entitled to a full refund of my deposit. What do you think, can I get my money back?

Yea you can get it back. Regardless of if the dealer says the deposit is non refundable, legally all deposits are refundable until you sign the purchase agreement when the car comes in.

When you are looking for your next dealer, ask if they have an allocation. If they don't you will be in the same spot.

"Special order, deposit not refundable" is meaningless because the car was never ordered!
