Well we do know that the GT500 was hitting 11.8's consitently on stock tires @123mph at an event with media coverage.

The 11.9 that is being claimed for the ZL1 doesn't sound like it was recorded or witnessed multiple times and verified as being on street tires by everyone present. This is odd since the car has been tested by multiple magazines recently, and there is not an official professional driver on stock tires time that is solid and witnessed.

This is rather silly for a car that has been tested by the world for the last two months. Seems most are saying the ZL1 pulls 12.3- 12.5 under the same circumstances as yesterday's 11.8 by a hot engined GT500. Erik

Because the GT500 is the ZL1's lone competitor. People enjoy talking about the "other" car, be they ZL1 owners or GT500 owners.

This thread is in the proper area andthere doesnt need any more strife caused by people looking to start a fight.

Viper, z06, etc guys come onto svtperformance every here and there. It's a free country with expensive Internet.

All that said, all of us mustang guys in here have been very respectful of the zl1 and camaro. We're basically car guys that like the spirited discussions of competition.

What your suggesting would be like sports forums where you can only talk about one team. Competition is good and breeds the best product for the consumer.

Would Chevy have released a 400hp camaro if ford kept with a 260hp gt after 2002? No, they probably would have released what they did in 04 with a 350hp 5.7 but a camaro body instead of an gto setup instead of a 426hp 6.2.

This 662hp Shelby will drive Chevy to improve the zl1's acceleration and requisitely bump up the corvettes offerings as well.
