Do you find yourself inspecting strangers' cars?
It's just a habit I've developed. Whenever I walk through a parking lot I always glance over the cars as I walk by and judge their condition. "That's a lot of swirl marks. Definitely need some M105 and an orange pad, for starters." "Man, look at those faded bumpers. With 10 minutes and a little bit of V.R.T. they could look like new." "Ugh! How could they let that much brake dust build up on those rims?" "I would never have my headlights fogged over like that." And once in a while I see one that makes me say, "Whoa, nice! Now there's a car that is being care for!"
Am I the only one?

yep, all the time, even dispense advice on occasion. the peeling clear coat I just don't get, is it really that hard to put a coat of wax on every couple months? saw a fairly new 08 Honda with clear coat failure already. just blows my mind

I'm totally guilty of this. It's especially disheartening to see high dollar cars look like the wheels were never cleaned. Or not washed in weeks. Idk, weather it's my ZL1, or my daily driver or the wife's forester I always take pride in a clean car.

I don't think the peeling clear coat has anything to do with lack of maintenance. That's more of an adhesion problem between the clear coat layer and the base coat layer. A paint system malfunction, if you will. GM had a huge problem with this back in the mid 80's when they changed over to water based paints on their vehicles. |

I judge the shit out of people's cars under the fluorescent light at gas stations, then I look at mine under the same light and feel bad haha

Oh look that escalade has gunmetal front wheels. That drives me nuts. My Jetta tdi is by far the cleanest car at my work.

I definitely do this all the time! Particularly if it's a car with really expensive paint like a Rolls or Bentley (which tend to get shown off around here). I saw a really nice looking Bentley but it was black and in the sun there were lots of swirls. Gave me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach!

I am guilty also. Mostly to cars like ours or higher dollar cars. When i see one that's filthy, especially if its been nice out and no reason not to spend an hour cleaning it up. I just shake my head. I even have my wife doing it. If i see a sweet car, I'll say "check that car out". I am talking about the car, she says "yeah but its dirty as hell". LOL

I have to say I do this all the time.
I "inspected" last time I went to the dealership and got a bunch of dirty looks....... Sorry a brand new, all black C7 Z06 3LT Z07 looks like it was washed with sandpaper.
