Red SS and RS Taillight Comparison Pics
Hey, all-
One thing that I've been curious about - how exactly are the RS darker tailights different from the base SS? The RS light covers have a darker tint to them. The SS are clear plastic. Here are two good comparison pics. Thanks to the respective owners of each picture. EDIT: look how well the panels are fit together (gaps in body lines) - they are nearly identical. Great job, Oshawa!

The RS looks waxed and polished while the SS looks plain and dirty.. I do like the tinted RS look though since it gives a contrast on red by being darker. On other colors I don't see it making a difference enough for me to pay extra for..

Great comparison photos 2KZ28. Thanks for posting this thread. It is real easy to see the difference between the RS and non-RS tail lights now.
I agree with IAH, that the RS tail lights will look great on a black Camaro -- and all / most others as well. |

Good comparison, I posted a similar pic from Indy, but on different colored cars.
Your example on the same colored car really shows the difference! I like em! LOTS!!

Great comparison! That was really helpful. Still, I'm barely leaning towards saving $1200 and forgoing the RS package.

Don't forget about the HIDs that come with the RS package. Someone needs to post a comparison of those versus the standard lights. Those make a big difference in my opinion.

it appears to me that its just a lighting issue? and someone post a pic of a SS/RS just to make sure its not a difference between the SS and the V6.

The dark surrounding area of the light makes the middle look more "after-burnery" on the RS light. Cool.

which is just about the only reason i want the RS package. HALs look really dated and old, but the HIDs look fresh and really cool. i hadnt notice how much of a difference the RS tail lights made until now. they look great. however i also think the regular ones look good. first post, but i have been lurking for about a week. this place is great. in just a few days i've learned tons about the camaro. |

This was a great idea! It is worth noting that the primary differences can be compensated with aftermarket components. It would be nice to know how the tail lights are tinted so that those who want to tint their headlights using OEM quality would be able to do so. Basically, GM has tinted the tail lights. It would be very possible to make this happen. HID headlights, on the other hand, would require much more investment and time.

Would it be worth it to just have the tail lights tinted aftermarket?
