Why Same Size Tires on ZL1/1LE?
I'm really curious as to the reasoning behind putting same size tires on the front and rear of ZL1/1LE wheels of differing widths. Any ideas out there?

Pretty sure they only did that on the 1LE because of the understeer.
ZL1 should have bigger tires in the back than front

Ah so the ZL1 does have different sizes? Then this makes me wonder why they went with the 11" wheels on the rear of the 1LE. Seems like it was stretched pretty good on the 1LE I recently saw at a local dealer.

....because forever, GM was best known for interchangeability, and parts made and used bewteen models and lines. That's what they did the best years ago....and is now done less on a proportionate scale than years gone by where there were more products/models Divisions, etc... But, at the end of the day, the more identical items that are made and shared, will cost the company less over time, than a specific dedicated part or item to produce a model.

Because of near identical suspension and handling on characteristics on both cars.

I thought the 1LE was 285 20x10 all the way around?

I believe both cars have 10s in front and 11s in the rear. The supensions are nothing a like. Because of the difference in the supensions the 1LE handles better with the same size tires. I would think the difference in HP has something to do with it also.
