I'm still baffled by how a smaller blower can be better than a larger blower. I understand that quality of boost is better than quantity of boost, so does the 2650 just have that much better of an integrated intercooler than the larger Whipple?

On my build with the previous fully ported LSA blower we were just under 1,000 hp at the crank. Adding the Harrop TVS 2650 with a bit lower boost we went up to 1155 hp at the crank. I'm running a 388 ci Dart next LS block, fully ported LSA heads, solid lifter cam, carillo rods, LS pistons. No meth this build or spray. Fore triples, ID 1700s. Throttle body shut off the fun at 7,300 rpm, it will rev to 8,000 rpm but need to get the Nick Williams 102 recalibrated to stay open or something. Go to Fountain Race Engines FB page to see it on the dyno.

What? Where is it showing doing better than the Whipple? Seems about the same. Should do a little over 800whp in an actual car on a nice cooled down run, and fall to 730-750ish in real world heated conditions. Just like all the top mount 2.3-2.9L blowers.

Doesn't seem to be materializing. Maybe more ice in the intercooler tank flowing faster.

I will have to find the picture. But the New Maggie 2650 id bigger than the Whipple 2.9. Flows a lot more air and has cooler IAT's

We should have it out 1st or 2nd quarter of 19. We are the new supplier for COPO for 2019 of course they use the LS motors so yes its coming. If you see the Sema Corvette in that picture it has the under hood 2650 lt4 version. Lots of work went into that blower to get it under the hood of the Vet.

It's interesting that the 2650 is only 6mm or 1/4" longer in the rotor section than the 2300 and the height and width are the same. Hopefully Magnuson will do like Harrop does in that if you have their 2300 setup you can upgrade by only buying the SC unit and it fits their previous intake (there was a link to it and it was fairly reasonable compared to the whole kit)
From Eaton Core features The high twist, 4-lobe rotor design is 15% larger than the TVS 2300 and features several improvements to maximize efficiency and performance at upper RPMs: 170 degree twist (versus 160) Better sealing with optimized "Length to Diameter" ratio Increased durability with larger bearings and timing gears Pressure relief ports in bearing plate for reduced input power R2650 advantages over R2300: 4% more efficient 15% larger displacement (2650cc versus 2300cc) 18% less input power required 25% more air flow at 18,000 RPM and 14 psi boost (2.0 pressure ratio) As far as comparing the TVS series to the whipple I saw an article that related bearing speed to how much each could be over driven. The downside of the whipple or any screw type SC was that the rotors have different numbers of lobes (i.e. 3 on driven side and 5 on the opposite side). The maximum bearing speed by Timken is 30,000 rpm. When a screw type is driven at 18,000 rpm the opposite side is maxed out at 30,000 rpm. Verses on the TVS design both sides have the same number of lobes so they can be over driven more which results in more CFM. The challenge then gets into IAT. Again I'm no expert by any means and am still learning. Just passing along what I read. Last edited by rpol78; 11-29-2018 at 06:58 AM. |

From Magnuson on availability
"Currently we are estimating at: •LT1/LT4 available Q1 2019 •LS applications available Q3 2019 I don’t think we will producing a “retrofit kit” as we chose to completely redesign our 2650 kit from the ground up and not just add a larger head unit to our old design. So when our 2650 does come out it is specifically designed around the 2650 head unit. " |

How about the cooling? The Heartbeat has better cooling than the other superchargers that have a bottom mount intercooler brick. How does the cooling on the 2650 compare to the HB?
