Which IPODS work?
I have a pretty new 120 GB IPOD, Dec 2008. It is plugged into the USB port (2SS), but I can't get the radio to recognize it's there. Not sure what I am doing wrong or if it's the IPOD.
Do I also have to connect the IPOD through the Aux jack? Does it matter if the songs are MP4? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you don't have to plug the IPOD into both. You should be able to connect through the USB port. Once you plug the IPOD in the radio should automatically recognize and switch to USB. I'm not what is wrong with your connection. Maybe try a buddy's IPOD that is a different kind and see if it works. Then you would at least know if it is your IPOD or your Camaro's USB connection. My IPOD nano that I bought at least 3 years ago is working great through the USB connection.

according to the owners manual, the radio only recoginizes MP3 and WMA, so that might be you problem.

Figured it out this morning. I was using a charger cord. It has the IPOD connection on one end and USB on the other that normally plugs into either a wall outlet or cig lighter unit. Evidently it does not have all the wires for transmitting the digital signal, just the power. Switched to the normal connect cord and it works! Thanks everyone, the power of help for this site is awesome! |

Has anybody had any trouble with the car not connecting to the iPod after the car has been shut off for a while? My Camaro doesn't connect to the iPod once the car has been off for a while and the iPod goes to sleep. When I start the car up again, I have to manually turn the iPod back on so the car can recognize it. I took the car to chevy and they have had it for 2 days trying to find out what is wrong.

I haven't seen that yet. If I do notice it in the morning I'll pass it on.

The IPOD part of my IPHONE works great on it. Car picks it up every time and starts off on the song I was listening to once I start the car up again!

I just got back and it still has the same problem. I told them about the PDIM issue and they didn't listen. I think I am going to take it to a different dealer, or borrow another buddies iPod to check to see if I need to buy another one.

So it sounds like your PDIM didn't get updated at all. You can check the software version by holding down the menu button while you're on the iPod or USB menu. The version that shipped from the factory was CC. Some dealers have been able to download and install version CD with the info that's on that other thread. You might want to try checking with another dealer if you're able to. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting your issue resolved.

I checked and it said CC and CD. CC is on top and CD is on the bottom.
