I had mine done by Oracle lighting here in Houston. Replaced dome light with red LED to match footwells and color shift halos, and underhood lights. Unfortunately they don't have any color shift halo kits for the 2014. The halo is thicker and not as round as older models.

Do the trim panels just pop off???? I am nervous to pull on them. I am talking about the drivers side.....sitting in the seat and the trim panel that hits your right leg. I want to mount the switch there and tap into the cig lighter circuit

This DIY was super easy and smart! I like the flexibility of being able to power on, off, or on the doors

I'm still having some trouble. So if I want to have them come on just with the ABL, where do I wire to? I have a 2010 2SS/RS (ignore my handle, I upgraded )

I had them in my 2013 LS, but I just tapped into the cigarette lighter if I remember correctly. I'd liike to hook a switch up this time, but unsure on how or what do do for this.

I did pretty much the same thing as AUS10BMX but I did not use the fuse box (mainly because I have never had any luck with connecting to the fuse box). My constent power source was a harness to the left of the drivers knee under the consel (last picture next to his switch) but everything else was the same make sure your gorund is good and your appliance is connected the middle part of your on/off/on switch.

Bumping an old thread, but could you use this same wiring coming off the dome light to power an under glow kit? I'm looking to have the underglow kit come on when i unlock the doors.

I would only trust as much current as a regular dome lamp would pull from that circuit. Best to use a relay to switch constant power from battery.

Sure. Size your fuse correctly, though.

Footwell Lighting

Guys,
I have been reading everything I could find on the forum ref footwell lighting. I knew I was going to do it but wanted it to be cost effective as well as cool. In my search for info I checked sites that sell LED kits and paid close attention to the instructions provided by each company. I found these instructions on the Phastekperformance site. Although I didn't buy their product I embraced their approach. Since I did not want to mess with a switch but use the one associated with the dome/map light like this install does. I previously bought a 16ft reel of SMD LEDs and only had to pick up the T-Tap at the local parts store. I did solder and shrink wrap the connections. Boomer now has his footwells well light up and I still have plenty of LEDs on the reel to tackle my next upgrade, LEDs for engine compartment lighting
