Funny I had my son using a conventional grip for his first ball. When I had is 12 lb ball drilled we made the switch to full finger tip. This was last year about this time. He has no issue now and likes the feeling. More control.

When I switched over its wasn't that bad either but some at first struggle.
My house Pro still tells me I need a few lessons to improve my game but he charges like $300 for 6 one seasons. I'm good with a 200 avg. For that kinda $$ lol.

That sure is a llot of dough just to improve on a 200 avg. I like your idea. keep the cash......better yet put it into the bar tab and enjoy life......

It's very hard for people to convert to a finger tip ball after years of using a conventional grip. All I hear is " I feel like I am going to drop the ball ."
Keep US posted...
She's quite fit and in shape but she's NOT athletic. haha, there's a difference. lol

I can actually get more revs with a conventional grip. Less consistant though.

I'm satisfied averaging between 195 to 200. I don't plan on bowling another night so I suppose I'll stay where I am average wise. Problem is that if I had a gun to my head I could go out there and average 215 or so. But I have more fun covering boards.

It's fun to score, but not fun to play down and in.

It's fun to grip and rip, but not fun to suck it up.

As long as I keep doing what I'm doing I'll always have fun one way or another. But I'll always average right at or just under 200.

I'd have a meltdown if I bowled down and in AND sucked it up. No fun all the way around.

I grew up learning the 2nd arrow out and back. I can play a bigger hook but that is what I call my c and d game.

I'm down am on as well .8-10 board all day long .. I can even run the 5 and under but sometimes it will not bite and I'm cleaning the dust bunnies from the gutter . Lol

I have in practice moved way left like Randy but I'm not as consistent to the pocket from that side . Plus I'm not a grip it and rip it bowler.

I have to soften up my release when I play down and in. It's actually more consistant because I pretty much just let the ball fall off with no manipulation at all. Sometimes when the lanes are extremely dry, I'll just pull out the white dot and play that line. It's always there.

Funny thing is it's just the way I came back throwing.

I bowled every day in 1993 and 1994 along with 2 and 3 leagues a week. That's when all of my honor scores were shot (Cept a 299 a few years ago) and I was strictly down and in pointing from the 5 board. Then I didn't pick up a bowling ball, not even once, for over 9 years. We decided to just bowl a little summer league and when I went to bowl I was turning the shit out of it. Not sure why but it seemed natural. Approach looked the same but the release didn't. It was funner.

Weird thing is back then I couldn't really do it. Not well enough to look good or average close to 200 anyway.

Yep sounds like my shot. All thou I haven't played the 5 board in a long time.

Strange how that happens. One day you just throw different. At least you are having fun while doing it. That is the KEY.
