1LE Rear Diff. Direct SWAP Question?
Has anyone replaced their rear diff. with a 3.91 1LE complete rear diff. ASSY., & is this a DIRECT SWAP. I have a 2010 1LT M6 Camaro.
Remember that ALL the 1LT manual transmision cars ALL have the same SS 218 mm. 8.6 in rear diff. from the factory, and will accept ALL the gear sets that are used in the SS cars. What I would like to do is swap out the entire rear diff ASSY. with one from a 1LE car, and not have to go through all the hassle of having the gears installed. Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Red 2010 Camaro |

Its a direct swap. Buy the whole pumpkin and it goes right in. Buying the axle removal/install tool will help preserve your seals if you're doing it yourself.

I just did this. It goes in great, no problems. As for the axles I had 2 people and we just pulled them right out and put them right back in with no problems. I would suggest replacing the Diff bushings at the same time.

I helped Jerry with this. Hardest part was getting the old bushings out. Axles came out and went back in with no problems or leaks. We did everything in about six hours. Replaced bushings then dropped the whole cradle. Disconnected all suspension at the hub, removed rotors and then pulled axels. Swapped out diff and replaced everything in reverse. We were both surprised how easy it went.
