Black particles in oil filter housing??

I was doing an oil change this morning and when I took off the filter housing cap I noticed a few of these black particles, they look like thin broken plastic pieces
They were on the threads between the housing and cap, I looked inside the housing and didnt see any other than on the threaded parts. I inspected the used oil filter and it was intact, as well as the o ring. The car is running fine, no rough idle,no check engine lights, no oil leaks, and next to no dirt, grime or oil anywhere in the engine compartment that would indicate (to me anyways) that a gasket or seal was damaged.

any ideas what it might be? [IMG][/IMG]

If they were on the threads they weren't in the engine it's probably something you got on your filter cap last time you had it off and when you screwed it in you just watched it in between

The only thing you could do when your drugging your oil to get rid of it run it through a strainer just to make sure but I'm pretty sure you're not going to find anything you're okay

As stated above, looks like it's just stuff on the inner threads

I'd clean it off, clean your cap, and then just check overtime to see if that's all it was

When you rub it in between your fingers you should be able to tell if it is carbon or rubber, such as from peeling of the o-ring on install.
