I just read through this entire thread and I'm wondering if there has there been any updates on the CAT's PIC was developing? I'm getting a maggie installed and I don't need cat's where I live but I do have kooks hi flows with LT headers. I just don't know about how bad the smell would be.

Can't speak for PIC but I know for a fact that Header companies have stepped they're game on quality of the cats since this has been written.

I can also tell you Cat failure numbers are Falling fast.

Ted.

Thats good to hear. I got my kooks headers and cats last summer but I'm not currently FI so I haven't checked the cats because I imagine they should be fine. I think I'll just git rid of the cats after the maggie is installed.

Don't imagine, Check!

With FI you have to make sure you have enough injector to support the Horse power + the Cat over temp protection fueling.

You also have to make sure that COT is turned on in the tune, many tuners turn it off and this will cause cat failures.

Your fuel pump must also be able to support the power + the COT fuel demands.

As you can see cat failures have many causes besides quality of the cats.

I will check them out. But would they be damaged when only running a tune with headers? Either way I'm taking them off if I don't need them.

Just a note that I had Kooks Green Hi Flows on my FI 715 rwhp build for about 1000 miles and they looked like new when they came off. Have a buddy with them on a 825 rwhp build and at 7300 miles they still are perfect inside.

I keep asking if anyone melted a set of Kook's and never get a response. Trying to melt a set myself. Not the green ones though.

My Kooks died. I have an ECS kit pushing 750RWHP. They looked pretty bad when I pulled them off (I don't even know how exhaust was getting through the passenger side). I would guess about 6000 miles on the setup. This is pump gas with Meth though. EGT's with E85 may be totally different.

They appear to be the same as the Vibrant. I am sure they will have the same issue. They are rated to 700 HP Vibrants are rated to 800Hp and they failed.

Vibrant and HJS are not related in any way.
