Convert AY6 to A6
I want to start looking into what it would take to convert my AY6 to the A6 transmission. Yes, I realize it will cost money. Im going to start gathering part numbers and try to get a budget together for doing this. If anyone knows parts numbers or things I'm forgetting let me know. I'm thinking that as these cars get older i can find some nice used parts from donor cars by the time I have the car paid off. My main concern is that I wont be able to flash the modules in the end.
Parts list: A6 Transmission Wiring harness Torque Converter Flywheel Shifter Assembly Console Driveshaft Transmission Crossmember Steering wheel TCM BCM flash I know it seems like alot but we're budgeting to pay stuff off. If i switch cars our budget plan would lead me to a $6-8k car for 2 years while saving for the next car or i pay off this car in 18 mo and save for the trans swap. That probably wont make sense but i tried Cost estimates: Complete trans, torque conv and wiring is 800. I would need the auto driveshaft (340+sh new), flywheel ($40 used), steering wheel with paddles $125, wheel harness $30, console trim bezel $100, shifter $180, programming $150, trans crossmember $20 $1785 + s/h + labor -$700 selling my trans, clutch, & shifter = $1085 + s/h + labor!!! Cost to trade for same car in auto.. $3500+tax title reg with 12k more miles. Hmmm |
