Hey guys, no Tracy just got a core back and is porting it. Should be on for this week

Parts to be tested:

RX ported manifold
Vararam wedge

Let us know what you think of the ported manifold! I'm interested in this mod if it's worth it along with the wedge.

Please do a test independently. No manifold and tb spacer together. One at a time please.

a ported manifold should be a decent gain itself when done properly. and tracy has been putting out great work so i know there will be a gain.

increased plenum volume not only slows down the air but also increases throttle response.

-increased volume allows the air pressure inside the manifold to be higher (closer to atmospheric pressure), providing more air to be immediately available for when the throttle is snapped to wide open.

-also, slower moving air turns easier which makes its way into the runner quicker and at a higher volume. along the same lines of a velocity stack on an intake runner. air flows better around curves than it does corners.

manifold runners port matched to the gasket/heads...should see a slight increase in airflow as well as smoothing out any turbulence caused by the mismatch between the IM/gasket/heads. and if the wedge aides in distributing air evenly to all cylinders...they should compliment each other nicely.

I kinda stopped paying attention for a while... Has there been more than one dyno test? I've been waiting to see the one performed by Tracy at RX for a while now, looks like it's getting close. My wedge has been off for a little over a week now due to other things I'm testing out, and don't want the wedge interfering with fuel trims, or dyno numbers.

Wideband O2 showed virtually no change in lambda error.
Airflow data is as follows:

Left side is pre-wedge, center is wedge installed, right side is difference between.
Data from 3100-3300 was averaged into the 3200rpm row, and so on and so forth.
I suppose similar data to what Higgs posted? Maybe this does lead towards the equalization of airflow to each cylinder rather than an increase in airflow.
Lethal's dyno test certainly showed an increase in power, so somethings going on.

And I don't want to hear any crap about learning. All tests were done in open loop with a wideband.....and my tune is spot on. I'm MAF only and lambda error was pretty much -2% up to 6000hz and then +/- 0.x% at 6000hz and up.
racnjsn...just in cased you missed this one

Hmmmmm... Well you guys twisted my arm, I'm going to the dyno Friday to dyno my intake vs stock... I will run my intake first, then swap to the stock box, and then swap in the wedge for the final runs. I plan to do 4 runs in each configuration.

My best time at the track on a 70 degree day was 13.15s I installed the wedge and hit the track the tomp was around 68-69 degrees. My best time was 13.23. So as far as I am concerned its not doing much and probely slowing me down.

What was the MPH difference if any in the two runs?

The thing about relying on track numbers, humans are very inconsistent beings. I've seen professionals very that much or more without changing anything on back to back to back runs so personally I don't put much weight in such a small difference and chalk a .08 difference to human nature.

I don't see how that little spacer would slow a car down, all it can do is angle the air charge a little bit.

Then one could also say "I don't see how this little spacer would make a car faster, all it can do is angle the air charge a little bit."
