Anyone have an aftermarket hood on your vert?
I am thinking about an aftermarket hood to dress up my convertible. Anyone have one and if so pics and comments would be great.

I bought a used fiberglass ZL1 replica (produced prior to the ZL1 release that has the same cowl lines as the SS).
When I purchased it, it was painted for a 45th anniversary edition, and done poorly. I was interested in how a gloss vs flat black would look on the silver vert, and since the paint had flaws, I Plasti-Dipped the entire hood and Plasti-Dipped in the silver accent stripes. I am not quite happy with the results, due to doing the entire hood with rattle cans vs power sprayer, but the end result gets a LOT of attention and compliments (who'da thunk it?) It actually has almost a rhino-liner feel to it ...

Here's another hood option for you. It's the Nickey Stinger hood. The fit is perfect and it comes ready to paint.

A ball park figure for prep and paint $800-1000 and that might be a low estimate. I would talk to a "Good" paint & body guy in your area to get a better idea.

$800 - $1000 seems high for repainting of hood. I would think around $500 depending on the amount of prep work. It could be around $800 if doing lots of blending on fenders and difficult to match. However not sure I would pay much over $800.
I had my entire ZL1 front end repainted and blended from a shop that does High Quality work here in the Metro area for $500 out the door. |

I figured if the OP was planning to add a stripe to the hood which would add some cost in extra paint and the labor involved laying out the stripe.
