wheel weights

Why is there wheel weights on my caliber? I have never seen this before. Did they fall off of the inside of the rim? The ones that left on the rim are different.

It's to cut down on brake vibration.

You must have a 2010 with the "patch" The newer ones have roller skate wheels on the calipers.

BTW thanks jrhagen for translating his post.

The weights are on the PADS correct?? The "Roller Skates" are on the OEM brake pads.

I am sorry it took me so long to respond. I couldn't remember my user ID and password. so I can take the weights off of the caliber and fit 18 inch rims? just like cutting the "skates" off?

"Caliper"

"Caliber" is how we annotate the diameter of the round used by firearms. Example:

When he was loaded, the Human Cannonball knew that there were not many men of his caliber.

The 'roller skates' are on the pads, not on the calipers. If you don't want them, get some new pads without them.

I had the weights on my original calipers. Took them off to powder coat the calipers and reinstalled with no weights. Never any shudder, vibration or squeal from the brakes. I think my weights were 9mm, or maybe .308. The size of the weights were related to the size of the calipers. Size matters....so I'm told.

The weights are there to reduce brake squeal. Later models have steel discs on the brake pads. Adding weight, adding mass, reduces the squeal. Moany take off the wheel weights or cut off the 'roller skate' wheels.
