Thanks everyone.

I called in a claim to my insurance company. I have no idea how much a 20X7 Midnight Silver wheel will be, nor if they will repair or replace the 20X9 rear wheel. I'd imagine this repair will be $800 - $1400. I have a $500 deductible.

The first picture is me on a side street. I actually was in a "well to do" neighborhood, so the residents left me alone. But I'm sure I was under surveilance through the residents windows.

I was wondering why the tire sealant and air compressor were not inflating the tire. It was dark and I could not see all the damage. When daylight came, I soon found out why the tire would not inflate. Look at the second photo. Whatever I rode over punctured the tire, went through it, and punctured the wheel too. See where the aluminum is cracked and pushed up?

Third picture shows 2 gouges in the front bumper cover. The rocker molding is scuffed up too, probably can't see that in the photo. scuffs are towards the rear tire. I did not take a picture of the rear wheel, yet.

It's in my garage now, sadly listing to one side. Guess I'll have the body shop come pick it up Monday or Tuesday.

Once I arrived home, I thought about driving the Chevelle over to the show. My wife said, "NO WAY! You are done driving your toys for today."

Mike, what a drag - seeing that make me want to too. Hopefully your insurance company does what thery're supposed to do and your Camaro is fixed better than new.

Jeanette, glad to see that you're once again "plugged in," and that Ladybug is safely tucked in.

Likely you can get replacement wheels/tires here cheaper than at a shop... frequently see the 20" wheel/tire sets here at pretty good prices. Might want to put it on a lift to make certain that there isn't any other hidden damage though prior to taking a settlement check.

If there were that many others with damages, did police get notified or was there any indication of what was causing it? (Might be able to find the responsible party and have them cover the damages?)

There was no police presence until dept of highways came to clean up the mess. DPS (our state police department) has let me down many times, and who left all of this debris on the road does not concern them.

Rick!.. I called you Mike - so sorry. I guess that means I'm an Old Fart, lol.

Here's a link to a local video news clip from yesterday about 2 therapy dogs being placed with a local family with a special needs child. "Cares A Lot" is a local animal rescue operated and co-ordinated by Khristi Kehr and her hubby, my nephew John Hutto. Thanks for all your good work!!!

Happy Sunday All!

Good Sunday morning. My back hurts again this morning. 2 more days & I will have my new matress. It is a chilly, rainy day here today. We are supposed to have periods of rain and mild temperatures. We hope to be able to get a little work done outside in between showers and a little grocery shopping. Now it is coffee time. Have a safe and nice Sunday everyone.

Good morning!!! I'm not sure why, but my cats have decided playing on my bed at 6am on weekends is a good idea. So I'm awake much earlier than I want to be!
Rick, you might want to try to determine if the debris was from a vehicle. You MIGHT be able to file your claim under uninsured motorist, with a lower deductible - depends on how flexible your insurance company is... And my guess is that your estimates could run higher than $1400. Tell the insurance company you only want OEM wheels - they're pricey from GM - you could end up with a little extra dough to line your pockets!
Jan, the mattress I was left with sucks too - it's my hips that end up hurting - I hope your new one helps!
I hope everyone has a great day - I'm meeting up with some Camaro peeps today, so I know mine will be good!!

One of my biggest fears is some kind of emergency stranding me on the side of the road. Hope you get this taken care of in the least painful fashion

Getting ready to upgrade the brakes!
