I'm with the thread starter. I've been lurking around these forums because I'm interested in making the new camaro my next car. I'm not brand partial either. My first sports car (if you can call it one) was a v6 firebird. I loved that car, but due to the age, it was a maintenance nightmare. I always wanted a TA, but didn't make sense because they were discontinued. So I went onto mustangs. Reading this forum has helped me formulate what I want to get in a couple years.

The Motor Trend run was great for the SS and bad for the GT500 and still the Ford won. With the power they have even despite slightly higher curb weight as long as they stay close off the line once traction issues resolve they will drive right by. Stock for stock of course.

08/09 Stock Gt500 has the same problem. Small grip for a lot of torque. The Gt500 driver would truly need to know how to launch. Saying that, a 08/09 should take a Camaro. Stock to stock with equal drivers.

My 2007 ran mid-12's bone stock on the Goodyears if that gives you any idea of what they run.

Well being that this is my first post, I will have to introduce myself properly:

My name is David, and I'm a Mustang-aholic....(who is considering switching sides. )

I have been the proud owner of a 2007 Mustang GT for over 2.75 years. She is a garage queen with only 8,900 miles on her. I ordered her to the EXACT specifications that I wanted. She is as perfect a Mustang as I could have imagined. I have even built an old one in the past (pic attached).

Subsequently, I have been following the Camaro's development (and lurking on your site) for nearly the same amount of time. And I have to tell you, I am really loving this car. I, as maybe one of the few, am not a Ford loyalist, Chevy Bashing, moron. I respect all Muscle Cars and love that the pony wars are back (even though they may not last as long this time). I am considering trading in my passion for something new and out of the box for me, and it seems that the Camaro is hitting all the right chords....except 1.

I can't decide what I want! The fact the V6 has the same amount of horses as my Ford v8??? That's awesome! I could buy a totally loaded 2LT/RS for a little under what I paid for the Mustang and have nearly the same amount of power...... BUT, for a little more money, I can have a monster..... BUT may not be able to afford the fully decked out deal in the 2SS trim.

I am struggling with the idea of settling. I do not want to trade what is perfect for something that is close. I want the 2LT appearance with the bigger engine, but I can't have both without shelling out for it.

I guess I am reaching out to your community and asking for some guidance. Maybe some suggestions. I have test drives scheduled in the next week at my dealership to feel both out and decide from there. Have any of you driven both? What is your thoughts?

Thank you all so much for your help. Whew...switching factions has got to be harder than coming out of the closet.

David from Ohio

Hi David,

I recently traded my 07 Mustang GT/CS for a 2010 Camaro 2SS and there is no looking back for me. When I test drove the Camaro thats when I fell in love with it! The ride is so much more smoother than the stang, the handling in one word TIGHT! I felt the power when I gunned it so much more than the Stang. I really didn't have intentions on getting rid of my Mustang but like I said after my 20 min test drive that was it for me!

Both are nice cars. See if you could add the Camaro and keep the stangs. I recently drove a new Mustang GT and was impressed. I had a 1984 Z-28 Camaro and a 1989 5.0 Mustang before. I liked them both. Handling and style always went to the Camaro, though. I can't wait to get a new Camaro...probably 2012 when my current car will be paid off and my wife will take it over.

I can't decide whether I want to S/C my Mustang, or wait for the 2011 with the new 5.0.

Either way, sad to hear you had to let it go.

Ford Mustang officially NASCAR-bound in the Nationwide Series

Quote:
The rumors are true.

The Ford Mustang is is headed to NASCAR, where stickers bearing the Mustang name and front end details will be affixed to stock cars that otherwise bear no resemblance whatsoever to the 2010 Mustang.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series "Mustang" will be part of a "limited roll-out" during the 2010 season, which leads us to believe the car will see a full introduction the following year.

The idea here is that using the Mustang nameplate in the Nationwide Series will help further differentiate it from the top-tier Sprint Cup.

While that may well be the case, after seeing the rendering supplied by Ford above, we have to admit we winced a little.
