SS muffler delete
I hear about guys having a muffler shop weld up a set of pipes with muffler delete. Doesnt it sound like you just need a muffler? I know the resonators are there. Just curious what anyone with an SS has found out.

I had it for a week. Sounded good at idle... That's about it. Then I realized I had a $37,000 car with a hill billy muffler cut off and got a real exhaust. Some ppl pay $200 plus for a delete, I paid $650 for a full cat back that sounds amazing. Refined, like it should sound not just noise.
That what you were looking for? |

I will agree with Rage sort of, the ATAK is not a good sounding exhaust either. Borla Type S, yes... ATAK, not so much.

I had straight pipes welded on and it sounded good but I put on the magnaflow muffler delete (comp. Axle back) and the tone is way better. Just plain stainless steel piping did not sound the same as these for some reason.

I had the cat back borla S-type and wasn't near as loud as I wanted it. Sold the axle back part and ran straight pipes. Have never even thought about getting a different axle back because it sounds so good. Now if I had headers and high flow cats it would probably be too loud, but just a cat back it's perfect.

I had a straight delete done... sounded good. Had it re-done when I got my 4" SLP double wall slant tips. The guy re-did my delete with 3" pipes this time. Sounds much better that way. (Or maybe it was the double walled tips absorbing some of the vibration(tone)?

I've been happy with the delete so fat. Sounds good. Not to loud but loud enough. It just gas the stock tips welded back up.

I have a 2010 2ss and I have done welded in pipes and then the pype bomb kit.....All I can say is the pype bomb is the best sounding axle back there is. The straight pipes were too raspy, just wasnt for me, but the pype bomb was clean little drone, very quiet in the car and sounds better than any cat back I have heard yet. I got them from jegs. Most people see muffler delete and think they are gonna sound like crap but...they dont realize that the pype bombs have almost 14" resonated tips that along with the stock resonators and cats sound awesome. Search youtube "2010 camaro with pype bomb" they have several vids showing sound. Hope this helps
