I've been wanting to do headers for the longest time and finally pulled the trigger and got them installed last Thursday. Man was it a fun time, me and my two friends got after it and it took a while. The biggest issue I had was that my exhaust wasn't stock prior to install, so making them bolt in wasn't happening because the off road extensions were 3-2.5" and my exhaust was 3". Anyways I got it to work and the hardest part was the stupid dipstick. But getting to the real problem...

It now has some rasp to it. I have the 1-7/8" long tubes connected to the JBA 3" Catback system. It sounds good at idle but once I start revving it, it gets that rasp to it. I know for the V6's they use a magnaflow x pipe, I had one when I had my V6. So I want to do the same thing for this, but it's a 3" not a 2.5". So has anyone heard of this part number: 13009130 from Flowmaster? It looks just like the one from Magnaflow. Will it quiet my exhaust down too much? I know it will eliminate the rasp, but I still want it to be loud like it is.

No. I used the non-catted off road extensions.

If you're wanting to get rid of rasp, you may just want to look into high flow cats.

The picture you posted above is one of our dual in / dual out mufflers. The part number, #13009130, is for a Pro Series Outlaw Race Muffler like the one in the image below.

Flowmaster does not produce a “resonated x-pipe”, but we do offer many products which can help you reduce rasp in your exhaust note. Give our Tech Line a call at 707-544-4761 and we would be happy to help you find something to reduce some of the rasp.

I'm just confused as to why that website shows that part number as a dual in dual out. But when I googled the part number just the picture you posted comes up. Except for at autoanything.com

Bc itll get rid of the smell, and itll change the tone of the car. If yhat doesnt work I would do bullet mufflers.

2 people just told you put the cats on to remove rasp that's why. Highflow cats are less raspy than no cats.

High flow cats from what I saw are a lot more expensive than just a dual in dual out muffler. That's why I asked why

Just a muffler change isn't going to kill the rasp though. You could be stock mufflers with no cats and still have some rasp. That's just the price that comes with catless long tubes while wanting volume.

You're on the right track with the Magnaflow resonated X pipe. That will kill the rasp and quiet down some. But they seem to make the exhaust note deeper too. I really like the resonated X behind headers and it's what I'm going to do as well.

Cats also kill the rasp some. But from the videos I've listened to...not as much as the resonated X. Doing both cats AND resonated X will take it to a whole other level.

Magnaflow resonated X = $100ish
High flow cats = $300ish

Pick your poison. Good luck!

He can't get the magnaflow resonated x-pipe. He has a 3inch exhaust.
