Camaro Taking the Place of the Corvette?

I know that this will be argued both ways....

I know that GM has the vette, and the vette is their best car and all. but does anybody else feel like it is being taken over by the new camaros. not necessarily performance wise, but it seems like the general public thinks camaro when they think of Chevrolet instead of corvette.

realisticly the camaro will never has as much power as the corvette ((STOCK)), just because that would kill the vette, but it doesnt seem like it takes a very long time for a new camaro owner to hit up all of the aftermarket bolt ons!!!!

What are everyone else's views on this. and is it a bad thing?!

I think the "general public" thinks of Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, and Malibu way before they think about Camaros and Corvettes. When the corvette gets it's refresh things will be different.

C7 Vette will make people forget about the Gen 5 Camaro. Then the Gen 6 Camaro will make people forget about the C7 Vette. That is just the way it works and GM loves it, they always have fresh interest in something.

No worries, the two cars are in different markets. A Vette is a white collar car and a Camaro is a blue collar car. Those two worlds don't colide, it's been like that since the 60's ...

What? I am a "Blue collar" HVAC tech. I've owned two Z06 Corvettes. If you spend any time on the Vette forums you will see your idea is an old cliche.

I don't see the differances as blue or white collar. To me the Camaro is a muscle car and the Vette is a sports car. I've never considered the Corvette a muscle car.

Currently own both here, blue collar all the way. and correct me if I am wrong but 2012 will have a camaro that will beat a vette, at least base and Grand sport versions.

I don't know the corvette sales totals for 2011, but for 2010 it was very low:

The final count of Corvettes produced for MY 2010 is 12,194. That’s a decrease of 28.1% from 2009’s 16,956 production and a whopping 65.5% off the 35,310 Corvettes produced in 2008.

I have dreamed of a Corvette for many years, price kept going up every year to where I could not justify it, but since I had other Camaro's, new Camaro was easy decision, other priorities will keep me from a Corvette, just bought 2012 Honda Pilot and shopping this weekend for a 2011 or 12 GMC Sierra crew cab 1500. My performance desire seems satisfied with the Carmaro, soon to add the pace car coilovers.

When indecision takes over......

They're both fun, regardless of your collar.
