I don't think the issue was the lid itself so much as it was the whole tubing into the tank...'cause they could still smack on a decorative lid like the concepts if they felt like it - it will just be on the side.

if i were working on the camaro, and knowing that people want to see it in the same spot as the concept, i would put a fake gas cap in the same spot on the prototype....just to raise some hell!

It is to me. I've said it before, I'll say it again, I don't mind the location but I want at least the option of a nice cas cap instead of a regular fuel door.

Eh', I'm past the gas cap and backup light location thing. I do feel a little let down with all the talk from GM about how you won't be able to tell the difference but-- it's cool. Other auto manufacturers are installing a top mounted filler lid but if GM engineers feel that for this particular car that it's best to not do that for the Camaro then- good enough. Overall however, from looking at the spy pics; the car looks "close enough" to the concept. I just really hope they install a very powerful motor in the SS/Z28/Blue Devil/Blue Flame/Big Cahoona/Mafusa or whatever they'll end up calling it. Come on GM... don't let me down this time. I'm talking 500+. If there won't be a 500+ motor... then I don't know what I'll do. I don't want a Dodge and I definately don't want a Ford. I'll probably buy a GTO and save $10,000 in depreciation.

Hey Eisenhower, I am with you on the 500+ hp.... I think this is the time to do it. I would love to have this collectors car in my hands, for me I dont want a zero to sixty time or quater mile time better than a vett... I just want to leave a bubber trail the length of a football field.

I'd be perfectly happy with a 4xx hp Z28 at this point. As long as it's under 30k and has a V8, I'll take one.

Yep, that's what I'm hoping for. (Though while it may START under 30k, I assume a 'nicely equipped' model would go for 33/34. Or so I hope anyway.)

400+hp Nicely Equipped - $34,000 is exactly what I want.

Whether it's Z28 or SS remains to be seen. (I'd prefer Z28 though.)

ya im with you guys, the gas cap issue is in the rearview mirror for me. i think id prefer Z28 over SS because GM is using SS so openly (example: Trailblazer SS.... come on now) that its not as special as it used to be. if they went with the Z28 name plate it would be way more awesome, just because the Camaro would be the only one with the nameplate, plus it HAS TO HAVE imo 400+ hp for that Z28. that would kick so much @$$!!!!

GM has pulled back from that position lately. One of their managers (I don't remember who) freely admitted they were using the SS badge a little too easily. The example was the Malibu SS and the non-SC Cobalt SS.

There was supposed to be an Equinox SS, which got bumped down to Equinox Sport. Same thing with the 2.4L non-SC Cobalt.

The HHR SS Turbo and Cobalt SS Turbo are worthy of the badge IMHO. 260hp in a turbo 4-banger is nothing to laugh at.

As for that Trailblazer SS you're thumbing your nose at, it has more power than the last Camaro SS, so I wouldn't be TOO condescending
