TPMS and 2018 ZL1 1LE - HELP...

Hello,

I can't figure this out. I recently installed my old Z/28 wheels and tires which have OEM TMPS in there...they worked perfectly on my 2014 ZL1 and I also have a Orange Electric EL-50448 TMPS relearn tool. I'm hoping that the procedure to relearn is just different and I'm doing it wrong. I started the car, went to the tire pressure section and held the button to put it in relearn mode. Then I went to the sidewall of the drivers side front tire and pressed the button on the tool, nothing happens. No horn beep.

Can someone please tell me the procedure to do a relearn on a 2018?

And...PLEASE tell me that the problem isn't the sensors for the 2014/2015 cars don't work with the 2018 model...

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

David,

I had the EXACT same problem this past weekend!

I'm using my Z/28 OEM wheels with R7 Hoosiers for the track, after install went to use my reset tool (same one you have) and nada....

Tried it three times, no go.

I am concerned that the sensors are in fact different on the ZL1 1LE. Reason I think this is that when it didn't work I recalled that the ZL1 1LE actually also tells you tire temps.....so......I'm concerned that they might be different TPMS sensors. Hope I'm wrong.

Can someone clear this up definitively??

Also...David.....got your PM asking about how things went at the track with the Z/28 wheels and the Hoosier R7's this past weekend.

Spectacular!

Using 315/30/19 on the Fronts and 325/30/19 on the rears and they worked great.

The 315's are only slightly (like 3/8") wider than the 305/30 Goodyears.

The 325's are slightly (again, about 3/8") narrower than the 325/30 Goodyears.

See pics below.

Again, this wheel/tire combo worked fantastic at RoadAmerica this past weekend.

PM me again if you have any other questions on the tire/wheel combo.

Now...back to our regularly scheduled program....what's up with the TPMS Sensors?

Wierd...

I took off my ZL1 rims to be powder Coated all I did was install my Wifes stock 16 SS wheels on from her car because she got 1le rims..

I was amazed no stupid light worked perfect even when I went back to my wheels no relearning problems no headaches

On my 5th gen thats another story it was the hardest thing to ever relearn the sensors stock or aftermarket.

You went from 6th gen to 6th gen the OP went 5th gen wheels on 6th gen, the 6th is the next step in electronics from the 5th, all new hardware and software that's why its not working, have some things to do for an HR or so then i will find my invoice with part # parts are in the rimes with tires and on the car.LOL

6th gen TPMS sensors are different. I had to change mine out on the track wheels that I used on my 5th gen ZL1.

How do we reset the sensors when we get new ones? Do we have to buy that tool?

Buy the $40 dollar orange tool from Amazon. Sorry, I don't have a link. Super simple once you have the tool, though.
