A Little DIY Project (updated, see post #17)

While doing some other work on my engine compartment a couple days ago, I got to looking at some visible wires and connections I wanted to cover up. Last night I worked on a template and today I made a pop in/out cover.

Cost of a small sheet of aluminum - $15.00
Cost of some left over 3D CF vinyl - $2.00
Cost of left over poster board - $1.00

Having the satisfaction of doing something yourself and having it come out and look much better then expected - priceless

Yes a product others have made the best company doing things like that of course

https://americancarcraft.com/ who won SEMA 2010, but for expense and such a guy can bend some tin and make stuff to hide the ugly stuff....LOL and save some money. Their site is a good place for ideas and drooling...LOL, I bought a set of the gradient flame airbrushed clear rally stripes and have sported them for years to complements and they are wax-able. Best rally stripes I have had, and I have changed looks several times. Window tint guy put them on for $70. Have a great day.

Nice! How did you get it to stay in place without moving around? Especially if the vehicle is in motion?

The top slides under the lip of the fender and the side slips down next to the fuse box in such a way that it doesn't move. It takes a little effort to get it in, but once it is, it's in there pretty solid and doesn't move around. Had to apply a little pressure on the side to pop it back out. Also, ran to a couple errands after installing it and it didn't move

Thanks everyone. It had been a long time since I had worked with aluminum or any metal for that matter and wasn't too sure how things would work out. Glad I took the chance and went for it
