Maggie and the fuel pump

I'm thinking about installing a Maggie in my camaro, I would love to run around 8 psi on it. For now, I'm going to run stock internals, cam and heads. What I'm not sure about, is if I should go with an aftermarket fuel pump, or just keep the stock. So all of you guys running Maggies on their cars, are you guys using the stock fuel pump, if not, witch fuel pump do you guys recommend.

thanks!!!

96% sure that MOST (Not All) of the guys running the TVS2300 are running the stock FP, but they are adding the Maggie larger FIs and a tune. Those 2 things should be good to 500-550 rwhp. Kenny Bell has Boost a pump to aid in fueling if need be.

Most everyone with a TVS runs thje stock pump and no BAP. However, the fuel pressure does drop to 50-52 PSI above peak torque.

If you are planning big boost or a larger engine with boost, look towards a twin pump conversion or at the very least a BAP.

Anything close or above 600rwhp should have a twin pump or KB BAP?

What have been the limits of the stock pistons and rods with boost? Has anyone had a ring land failure at more than 6 psi?

Thanks for the info guys. I know a guy that was running around 11 psi on an LS3 with stock internals and his engine is now history. I guess the safest way to do this is to go with 2 fuel pumps.

I know LPE adds a KB Boost-a-Pump to all their packages over their base package, just to be on the safe side.

KB BAP, And now adding new a fuel pump assembly, 8 psi is easy to get on the stock fuel pump until you do heads and cam, Then the boost will drop,
In order to run 8 psi with heads and cam you really should invest in a new fuel pump assembly,

We run a KenneBell Boost-A Pump on al of our S/C Cars.

As stated above, anything north of 600rwhp we recommend a little more aggressive fuel system.

What about cars at sea level... I forgot to mention my friend was driving the car at sea level when the engine his engine died...

Could driving the car at sea level have anything to do with it?

and what's better the KB BAP or a second fuel pump...?

Sea level has no bearing -

All BAP's work the same in principal - they raise voltage and since the fuel pump motor is DC the rise in RPM is directly related to the rise in voltage. BAP's are a great value in comparison to adding an additional pump - however, there is a point where they alone can not support the fueling requirements and then a second pump is mandatory. Typically, if you seeing more than 80% duty cycle on 60 lb injectors then the BAP is probably taxed.

Last, adding an additional pump is actually more like "adding a fuel system" and it is not an inexpensive undertaking. I like dual in-tank setups with an external, boost referenced regulator.

You will be better off in the long run to by a dual fuel pump. You are also able to do any modifications down the road with no worries. I just bought the Fastlane dual fuel pump as my car is very high hp and boost and I am also doing a 418ci forged bottom end as well. I started out with a KB boost a pump but as most will do, I still wanted more and now to be safe I added the new fuel pump.

Agreed! We installed the Fastlane "Deuce" Fuel pump module with our Vortech V3 on the JBA Super Sport and have headroom up to 800 hp. When it comes to fuel, don't mess around. It's cheap insurance relatively speaking.
